| Training to LIKE the Carrier... I wasnt sure if this should be in training or not...lol... but.... I got my Celltei bag today! I was so excited, i tore through the packaging. Reference: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...56#post1004856 But, I have a question... I seem to be more excited than Bentley....Will he EVER get used to ANY Pet Carriers? 1) He's too small, so any of the holes, he's able to stick his head and legs out of *save the strap that's holding him in*...however, he's still half out of the carrier, so it's almost POINTLESS to even have the darn thing. THe bag is XS, and they dont get any smaller....unless I order them custom..and i LIKE this one because i can put things in it besides HIM. 2) He whines...a LOT. Do they ever get used to the pet carriers? Has anyone ever had this issue? How long did it take for them to get used to them? What did you do to get them accustomed? Thanks so much! |

| Congrats on the new Celltei! I think I would start off by letting him see/smell, investigate the carrier. Maybe put a few treats in there and let him go in by himself. Once he's in, keep him for a little while - maybe carry him around the house and stuff. It sounds like he may just take a little while to get used to it. Always make it a pleasant/happy place to go! I'm sure he will get accustomed to it in no time. That's what I did with Ceiba and she was ok after a few trips in it. Good luck!! |

| Try putting some treats in it and help him get in to retrieve them. Give him more treats for sitting in it. Then walk around the house with him in it, giving him treats as he goes. After that, try taking him to the pet store in it. That is what has absolutely sold our little girl on it. We started taking her to the pet store in hers as soon as we got her and then let her out on a leash to explore. This is what our puppy looooves to do. We did that consistently since we got her, at least once a week, but in the beginning it was almost every day. Now when she sees us get her bag out, she goes completely crazy trying to jump into the bag. When she was real little, she would hide under the couch sometimes and in order to get her out, we'd get her bag out and unzip it and make noises like we were leaving. Boy! She was out from under the couch in a flash! Then we'd have to actually take her somewhere so as not to ruin the fun, so we'd drive her around the block in her bag. It didn't really matter where we went, once she associated getting in her bag with going to fun places like the pet store where there were other dogs. All she wanted to do was get in her bag and go somewhere. |

| Louie never minded the bag but Bella just whines and barks the whole time she is in one..I just think that she does not like the confinement of one....In fact I was thinking of getting her one of those ones that all four paws hang out.....its kind of just like a sac type of thing....I forgot what they are called...maybe someone can help me out here............I would not get one for a heavier dog but where yours is so tiny I think it would probobly be great! Good luck....

| Both of mine love their bags and love going out with Mommy. I started Jewelina young but Jaden wasn't in a bag until he was almost a year old! Make it a fun thing for them, put a toy in there or a pixie stick. Just put them in the bag and keep it open and pet them inside the bag on your lap. Then enventually, put it on your shoulder zipped and walk around the house for a while, say 10 minutes or so. Increase the time a little longer. Then move outside, go walk around the block, go talk to someone carrying him in the bag. Get him used to all those noises and people. The more you put him in there, the more he'll learn to like it. Both of mine do wonderful in bags, I put them in and they lay down and enjoy the ride. In fact, my boy often just goes to sleep in there while we are out running errands Good luck to you and PM me if you have any questions! |

| Personally, it is one of those things whether they like a carrier or not. Their personality plays a part in whether they like it or not. More than anything, if they are taught that it is their safe place...they will like it. But if they aren't used to it...they will hate it. Our Maltese loved the carrier, and was quite content on staying inside. Then again, her personality...she liked being at home. Didn't really care to be outside much. Our Yorkie. He doesn't really care to be inside his carrier, as he is an attention whore. |

| Izzie is on the fence about the carrier. She does everything she can to avoid going into it. But the minute I get her in it, I praise her up and down! I also give her a couple of treats. She likes to be out and licking people and seeing what's going on, but with a few treats, she'll put up with being in the carrier... On a side note: I just bought a new Celltei bag on eBay. So far, I love it!!!

| I bought a carrier the very day we brought Teddy home at 8 weeks old and took him to two places in it that very day. He did not appreciate it but by the next time we went out he was fine with it. He just knew it was his space. We always took him and he was in it almost daily. Now he loves his space, goes in happily and never makes a sound while inside. I think the key is to just make it his space with his things and take him often so he can get used to the idea. Kim

| Murfee has all kinds of carriers..the bag kind, the kind all four legs are out and a kind of back pack except in the front. He HATES the bag kind. Like you said the only thing keeping him in is the leash clip. He will stay in the back pack thingie but always has his head out. Lately I have been using the kind where all 4 legs are out. I won't say he likes it but he does really well in it. My husband hates it...says it is not natural for a dog to "sit" that way. What does he know???? |
