Barks at everything My little girl Sadie, who is 9 yrs old and adopted barks at every little noise. She is literally driving us nuts. We have tried stones in a bottle, yelling, water in a glass and water spray and none of it works. It works the first few times then she gets used to it and continues to bark all the time. Please any ideas will be greatly appreciated....

Mine do this too. I'm not sure what to do about it.. sometimes I just think they like to bark and that's that

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ozzie barks a lot, too. I saw something on Dog Whisperer a few weeks ago that has helped sometimes. Cesar said to make this CHEE CHEE CHEE sound at the dog when they bark or are otherwise doing something inappropriate. (In his example, it was attacking the vacuum.) If the dog doesn't respond to that alone, keep making the sound and clasp all of you your fingers on one hand into a point and use that to push their neck or face while you make the noise. Supposedly, it's akin to the alpha dog biting at them to get them under control. We have issues getting out the front door (sets off hellacious barking fit 90 percent of the time.) I've done that consistently and, as of this morning, all I had to do to leave was keep saying STAY and he remained in his bed in the livringroom! (When he jumped up to get out of his bed, I started the CHEE noise.) It's worth a try. |

You have to be consistant in correcting them when they bark. This is ongoing training and can take time to see results. I would say a good several months before Buddy did not bark over every little noise he heard. When he saw a dog through the window and barked I would talk to him nicely because this is a natural bark but when the phone rang and he ran around the house like a mad man I would correct him firmly. Today he does not bark unnecessarly. It took time and patience because this breed loves to yap Hang in there and don't give up. In time it will get better. Good luck Carol & Buddy

We have been trying already for several months. We really would like it to stop as soon I will have a labrador puppy. She has already taught our other Yorkie to bark and we really don't want this to happen with the lab. A yorkie barking all the time is not as bad as a lab.... our neighbours will hate us I do hope we can correct this. We will just keep trying.... maybe I'll check out Dog Whisperer.
