| Switching potty training methods HI all! This is my first post. I just got my Yorkie one week ago. She's 3 months old and adorable but very feisty! I was keeping her in the bathroom area with a gate to try and get her to learn how to use a wee wee pad. Now i know these things take time but she occasionally pees on the pad and never poops on it. A few times she got around the gate while I was at work and left me "presents" but I think now I've got the gate sorted out. The problem I'm finding is that I'm not always able to catch her peeing or pooing because I'm not there or miss it. I feed her in the morning, come home at lunch and then feed her in the evening but either I miss it or, i have to get to work, etc. I try and leave her enough time after eating before I have to leave the apartment. (I wait up 45 minutes, even though I heard 15 was what it usually takes for a puppy to have a bowel movement after eating.) Now I'm thinking I should have tried papering the floor and then taking away the pieces of paper gradually. It's only been a week so I imagine I should give little Monkey Girl more time. Any advice would be appreciated! Also, if I do move to paper from the wee wee pad where can i get plain paper. The vet said newspaper isn't good because of the ink??? Lastly if I do change to paper training I'm afraid I'll have to paper my whole place because she was doing well in the bathroom alone .... just barking for a little while, but the last few nights she's been howling like she's being strangled. HELP! and... THANKS! |
