Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Eddie peed on a cousin's couch! Eddie has been 100 percent housetrained since he was 9 months. He's now 2 1/2. My wife has tried to blame an accident here and there on him, but I'm certain those were Jack's. Well, tonight she had him at her cousin's house and she caught him peeing on the couch! I'm shocked and disappointed. That's the same cousin who owns the chihuahua that Eddie grew up with, and he hasn't seen her in a long time. Also, the 4-year-old chihuahua is not housebroken, and I'm sure there's odor over there. Has anyone else had that problem? Fine at home, a marker elsewhere?

| Abbie is housebroken at home and at my parents' house but we took her and Max to a friend's cottage last summer for a weekend and Abbie kept peeing in the house. Max had on his belly band so we knew it wasn't him (he's not fully housebroken and he's 3 years old ). We found out later that a pug had peed all over this house in the past so apparently Abbie smelled all of that and thought that she was outside. We didn't think it was her at first because she NEVER goes to the bathroom in the house but we caught her in the act before the weekend ended.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Thanks for the comments. Looks like I'm not alone! I just don't know how to train him not to do it. He seldom goes to other people's houses!

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Oh, Eddie! Well, dad - maybe 'cause he was in a strange house where the chi is marking? Or, sometimes, I think just if anything is different in their world. My Abbie has been 99.99% papertrained since around 10months; but, if someone new comes into the house, I'm likely to find an accident in the hall . Very disapointing. This Summer should be just a blast when my sisters come. One is bringing at least one dog and two ferrets! lol

| Oh my, little Eddie, what have you done? Belly bands work miracles when visiting other peoples houses! This way you can relax and know he wont be able to pee on anyone's sofa. Good luck!

| I'm afraid what Eddie did isn't uncommon at all. Dogs don't always generalize well. Eddie has learned not to pee on the sofa at home but, in his mind, he's not sure that applies to the sofa at another house (especially one that has an odor on it that is just begging to be covered over!). Really, all we can do is watch them with eagle eyes when they visit someplace different. Or, use belly bands as was suggested. Are you and Eddie still taking classes? How is that going?

| Argh! I caught Sadie doing it in the house this weekend. It was raining all weekend so we didn't go outside much which is usually ok because she is pad trained too. But I caught her peeing in the floor TWICE!! I wonder what's up?

FirstYorkie, we had to withdraw from Agility 2 in October because Eddie came up limping while playing with a neighborhood pup. Anti-inflammatories took care of the problem within days, but we decided to pull him out of agility until he's rechecked next month. The vet suspects a cranial cruciate injury, which is normally something for bigger, older dogs. Unfortunately, if that's the case, it will progressively get worse unless he has surgery. I'm hoping the vet's wrong this time.

| My Chachi never marks at home. He does mark where he smells a male dog. Maybe Eddie is the same. I got him some bellybands to put on him when I go anywhere where there are other male dogs. So far it has just been Petsmart or the Vets. He would realy embarress me when He would mark at Petsmart. One time he ruined a rug the had on a low display by marking on it. I showed one of the workers and she looked mad at me.

| My yorkie is 8, and has been house broken since she was a puppy, but when she was about 5 years old I caught her peeing on my mothers couch! I was the same way, shocked and disapointed! I find that she acts this way when she is "mad" at me. I dont understnad why the couch. I fussed and made her watch me clean it up while I gave her Ugly eyes. It was a one time thing and she never did it again? So maybe this will pass?? Good luck! |

| Well I have an embarassing story, about my 1st yorkie Max. I was at my friends house and had Max with me and her Aunt was visiting and Max went right up to her lifted his leg and peed all down her trouser leg!! OMG I was only, about 17 years old and I was mortified!! Thankfully Alfie and Lottie are 100% housetrained and have never embarassed me yet!!

Donating YT 14K Club Member | OY! Blame it on the other dog. Eddie knows better than that and I'm sure it was just a mistake...or the typical male marking whatever is near by to let others know he was there.
