| I think patience is all that works. Maddie was very much that way at first and she is now getting much better. When she sits and won't move I simply wait for her to come my way. When she does I praise her. When she pulls I give the leash a quit little snap (not enough to move her just enough to get her attention) and say "No Pull!" I never let her lead. If she starts going another way I change my direction to get her to come to me. In only a few days she's a lot better now. I think a lot of it is getting used to a leash in the first place, then its an obedience thing. Tom |

| Your pup has to get use to being on a leash. The easiest thing to let her drag her leash around for a while so she can get the feel of it. After she does, hold the leash in your hand but don't pull her. Let her lead you. When she is used to that, you can gently lead her. |

| Are you using a harness of collar? Jack learned with a harness, and now he can be in a collar and not pull so as to hurt his little neck. All I have to say now is lets go bye bye and he stands still so I can put the collar on. I hate the harness, it is a battle to the finish trying to get it on him with him squirming. He will be 7 months tomorrow, so is still learning.

| My "No fail solution"..... I battled a little chihuahua puppy and finally had EASY success with this simple remedy... I bought a plain hamburger from Burger King.......took out just the meat pattie....broke it into tiny little bites.....put the harness on Apple (I felt more secure with the harness....she was soooo tiny)...I held a piece in front of her and got her attention. In seconds she was walking along with me.!!!! It took a few days of that...then I changed to cheerios....or fruit loops...or broken up pretzels.... Now she walks like a champ!!! I used the same method with Lil Bit...she NEVER stalled once!!! Walked right with me! |

| I think your baby just needs to get used to it. Esme was the same way the first few times I tried having her walk on a leash. She would put her little bottom on the ground and refuse to move. With time it will get a lot better. Esme now has no problem at all on a leash. I used to let Esme wear her harness and leash around the house. She would just drag it behind her. My husband thought I was torturing her, but I think it really helped! Good luck!

| I know what you mean!!! Lily thinks the leash is some neat game. She usually grabs it with her teeth, puts her back legs out behind her and just lets me pull her. I know I am creating a bigger monster, but it is so cute.

| Keep putting a leash on your baby. She will get used to it. Let her drag it around the house until she forgets all about it. Diesel used to hate wearing his harness and walking on a leash but now loves it because it usually means that he gets to go play outside. If your baby likes going outside she will learn to love the harness when she realizes that they come together. Good luck. WAR EAGLE!!!!! Reagan |

| Texie's momma , Gazou is 13 weeks old . I have had this problem too . I followed the instructions of my breeder : 1st , you place the harness without leash for a little while . Give her a treat. 2nd when the pup is used to it , place the leash on and let the puppy go , sure he will play with the leash but let her play . If you pull on the leash , the reaction will be pulling back . Give her a treat . 3rd when the puppy is used to harness and leash , try to slowly walk with her, always be sure to have a treat for her . It take patience , patience and patience . |

| Advice nala just started her obedience classes and the lady told us this to get them to walk on a leash... first get them use to a leash, let them wear it around the house SUPERVISED after you think they've gotten use to being on a leash and wearing a car take the leash and walk backwards and have some type of treat in your hand, the treat can be food treat or some type of squeeky toy. get them to walk a little then reward them and continue everyday for about 10-15min. she also told us to do most of our obedience outside after the dog has had time to play and unwind. hope this helps. nala has almost got walking on the leash down, nowshe's got to learn to heel(sp?) |

| Please, people, DO NOT put collars on these little furbabies. They will hurt their tracheas (windpipes). Use harnesses only. I know one little furbaby for sure, that they had a collar on her when she was young, and she now has trachea problems. You have to be very careful when you pull on their harnesses, too. Take them to training sessions and they will teach you how to train them so you don't have to yank on their leashes. Just a few words of precaution. |
