| At what age was your fur baby potty trained? I was just wondering at what age everyone was able to get their Yorkie potty trained and what method you used? Thank you soo much in advance. We are currently crate training our little man and it is working well so far, he still has not gone outside on his own but if we bring him out he will go potty!

| We didn't get our Yorkie until he was six months old (we were the third owners). The previous owners said he was pee pad trained. Yeah, right! Put some down and he shredded them into a zillion pieces. So we decided to do the "outside" potty thingie since that is what we do with our maltese. He did great with that but it took about two weeks before i would totally trust him free roam of the house. So all the pee pads are gone, crates are gone and they both have full run of the house. So in answer to your question, I knew I would get around to it eventually, he was fully housetrained at about 7 months. But I think alot of it is the time and dedication you have to put into it as well.

| I trained mine to pee pads, and then I put in a doggie door. Once I put the doggie door in they were trained. However,They do not ask to go out if the door is closed, they just use the pee pad. |

| my harley is 21 weeks and he rings a bell to go out (on my screened back porch where he has a pad) unless he is in his crate at nite or his ex pen when i'm gone, then he will use his pad. i cant remember the last time he had an accident but i dont know if i would say he is 100% trained..... i still keep a close eye on him when he is running around playing.

| Thank you soo much! I think he is doing really well and I think he will probably be closer to 16 weeks before I feel like I can totally trust him but right now he is just getting used to everything he has only been here for 3 days He is such a little love!

| At 6 months old I started using a bell on the back door, they worked sooooo well! But I think she was a little over a year before I could trust her to run free when I wasn't home. |

| I trained Jack to go outside since I am a stay at home mom and am home alot. I think we started trusting him at about 4 1/2 months although we still put him in a crate when we are leaving. Mainly because he gets into things when we leave him at home alone. Bella is 12 weeks and I think she is going to be my tough one to potty train. She doesn't seem to mind "going" where she sleeps! Jack never did that!

| We crate trained and never used pads. Loki had/has a lot of UTI's and other bladder issues so he is a bad example, but I'm still proud of him. He started asking to go out by 6 months but not consistently. He'd ask one time, then the next time pee on the floor. It wasn't his fault - he couldn't hold it. Every time he had an accident we'd go back a step in crate training. By 10 months he was down to about 2 accidents a month and once we put up the bell (around 1 yr of age) no more accidents. We should have used the bell sooner. Also, his accidents were always peeing on the floor. With the exception of diarrhea (poor pup-we went through everything ) he only pooped in the house a few times before he was 6 months old and then never again. He is crated when we leave but he has complete freedom while we are home. After we put up the bell I stopped following him around. Now the crate is just there if he wants it while we are home and we use it for time-outs like when he is barking us when we are cooking. He loves his crate and goes there when I ask him to. His training also carries over beautifully to other people's homes. He is so good about finding the door and sitting by it to go out. He pees on command. He is wonderful about it. But it took 3 horrible and 6 slightly better months to get him there.

| Erin, Wow sounds like it was a rough road but I bet you are so proud of him. Poor little guy! Well, we are crat training and I am proud to annouce that he went poop outside all by himself today! We have a doggy door and he just ran back there and did his business. I was soo proud of him. It looks like all the hard work we are doing is paying off, I can't say how dizzy I have been getting with watching him constantly the last few days. He sure can move! Thank you everyone for sharing your stories it helps soo much! I know the potty training part only lasts soo long but I can't wait till it is over

| What age? I'll let you know when he has no accidents for 6months straight. Whenever I think he's good..he starts going wherever he pleases again.

I'm with you on that one! About the time I think she's 100% pad trained, she'll pee in several spots in the house. I crated, and used an X-pen to start with. I also let her out with Adonis, and she also goes outside. Its got to the point I have to crate her when I leave too, cause she escapes from the kitchen! But in the kitchen, she always uses the pad. She's 6 months old now. | |

| Cozy loves to be outside on nice days. She will bark and cry to go out. Learned from the Golden Retriever. Had maybe 10 accidents when I first got her but has been really good since. I do not use wee wee pads only the great outdoors. Good Luck. I keep her crated during the day if I have to go out for more than 2 hours but she sleeps with me at night. |
