| I'm new here... I'm new here and I'm getting my own little yorkie!!! She will be only 7 weeks old when I get her and is the runt of the litter and she is the smallest the lady that raises them has ever seen... I need some tips on how to train her. Will y'all please give me some pointers on how to train her at the start and what to do when she cries? I'm really excited and I've already gotten some plans on training her. But I need all the help I can get!

| When you say small how much does she weigh?? If she is that tiny she probably won't have alot of bladder control untill about 12 weeks. Thats when I started peepad training Jewels. She was the smallest of her litter also. You can take her to the pee pad and try to initiate her to it though. At 7 weeks shes just mainly going to sleep alot. Good luck with your little baby.

| Her name is Daisy! She's my little baby already! I will try and get pics, hopefully she won't be as much of a handful as Duke was... Of course Duke was three times as big as her when he was a puppy! (He's a German Shepard)

| Hi, Aquabutterfly! Congratulations on the addition to your family. I myself have 2 - 5 month old pups at home, Parker and Duke. As far as training goes...PATIENCE!!! They say that Yorkies are the most difficult dogs to train, and believe me that is true. In fact, it may seem that your new baby is trained to use her pee pads now, but trust me when I tell you, it proabaly won't last. As soon as she gets a little bigger and a little more curious, she will start finding fun new places to go potty Please don't think I am being negative, just giving you a heads up (it happened to me). When this happens, your best source is this website. Every potty behavior your puppy will begin to have will be covered in these forums. The forum has helped me tremendously! In fact I am still trying to get Parker potty trained (3 months after adoption). They say it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year, so be patient, and always remember how darn cute she is. Best wishes! |

| Thank you for welcoming me here! And thanks for all the advise. I dunno about what breeder i'm getting her from though. She's little but she says if i don't let her sleep in the bed with me and as long as she's eating as well as she is now there shouldn't be a problem.

| if you havent picked up your baby...please please please ask the breeder to keep her for you until she is at least 1 1/2 lbs. Your new baby is far to small to leave her mom and move into a strange and stressful new environment. She needs the best start in life, the breeder is the one that should make sure she is very healthy and has been vet checked and immunized before you get her. I wouldnt give a baby that small a shot until she at least weighed over 1lbs they have a difficult time and reactions. You will have nothing but problems on the transistion and being that small comes issues like hypoglycemia. A tiny baby needs very special care and feeding. Please beg her to keep her longer! it will be the best for the both of you!
