| Belly Bands...great invention! I'm a new Yorkie mommy and had the same question. I learned about Belly Bands from a YT comment. I researched the web and found ideas on making them myself since I sew. I tried several styles and finally created my own which works perfectly for my boy. I don't have to strap it on real tight and it stays in place catching everything. I love belly bands as now my furboy can have freedom. I still take it off periodically and put him in his exercise pen which is set up in the central room of the house with a tarp underneath. He will usually do his business on the paper while in the pen or at least near it..LOL! This way I don't have to pick up tootsie rolls anywhere other than his pen. I always pick it up and trash it after he goes otherwise he will eventually walk in it...yuck! Most recently he has found it entertaining to tear his paper in shreads so sometimes he gets his business on the tarp but at least it isn't on the floor. I still continue to try to paper train him but prepared to keep him in belly bands the rest of his life if necessary. I just make his bands with contrasting fabric to match his little vests I dress him in. I think he is rather handsome that way! You'll love belly bands!

| Sorry I didn't mean to post twice...I am new at this and guess I hit the button twice or something. As for the pictures of my furboy in his vest and belly band ...I will try to get some up as soon as possible when the snow melts that is if he will co-operate! My digital camera doesn't take good pics in the house But I will get some pictures up here soon with Teddy sporting his vests and matching belly bands!

| My senior toy poodle has to wear belly bands now that he's become incontinent. I made tons of them from pretty flannel prints and he wears them with a Poise pad inside, cause he has quite a bit of potty at 17 yrs old -not like a puppy. He doesn't mind them at all. I wash him with baby wipes on the days when he doesn't have a bath. They work very well, and I'm glad I went that path. My friends wanted me to put him down, but I knew there was a way to deal with the problem. He's been such a good little pal to me for so long. It wasn't right to send him off - he can't help it. Now that I have my Yorkiepoo furbaby, they are such nice playmates and he is teaching her so much - except to pee on the piddle pads! |

| I deliberately got a little boy dog - so that he could wear belly bands. A male dog can wear belly bands all the time or only part of the time. My dog is 14 months old now - and dosn't really wet in the house if I take him out often and regularly. But, in the evenings, I slap a belly band on him and I relax a little. This way he can run around the house, I can work, and if I don't get him out, and he pees -- it won't go on the carpet. I check his belly band often and if it's damp at all I change it. I probably change it three times or so every evening. When he finally goes to sleep for the night (I have one on him) and he is rarely wet in the morning. ******* I have never purchased belly bands. I just use washcloths. I fold them diagonally - wrap them around his belly - and pin them with a diaper pin (then they go into my wash with all my other laundry). I totally love bellybands. I don't know how we would have gotten along without them. *** Another thing wonderful about them (especially when your dog is young) is having them wear one when you visit other people's homes. We certainly don't want our pups peeing on other people's carpets. I still throw a couple in my purse when I go visiting. Anyway - belly bands are great. Don't know what we would do without them. Good luck! Carol Jean PS - if you do use washclothes - be sure and wrap them around him very snugly -- otherwise, they'll stretch and become loose very quicly. |

| What about little girls?? I will be travelling and don't want any accidents on route. I have seen sanitary panties? Is this what you would use, or would a band also work?

| Bellyband are for little boy dogs. They just wrap around the tummy and over the part that the little boy's pee from. This wouldn't work with a girl.....because they wouldn't cover the area that they pee from. So - I guess little girls have to wear diapers. I got a little male dog for two reasons: 1) Their pee doesn't kill the grass as much, and 2) They can wear bellybands Good luck! Carol Jean |

| So does anyone make cute tiny diapers? Or tiny diaper covers? I too want to be covered for all eventualities when traveling. Suppose I could crochet some covers - that would be cute! |
