| Doggy Bootcamp Here I Come!! Does Size Really Matter!?! Crate size, that is.... I just got done reading Kathryn's thread on crate training, and it gives me hope!!! Baby is 1 y/o and still not trained! (sigh) I am absolutely going to do Doggy Bootcamp Crate Training!!! Now, the question is this....I have a big crate for her (for like 100+lb dog)! I usually (for the past month or so I let her roam around) keep her in this crate while I am at work which is for about 5 or so hours. She does NOT have any accidents in the crate. So do you think this big crate will still be okay for doing the bootcamp? She also sleeps in bed with me and doesn't get up at all during the night to pee or sneak-a-pee on my carpet (I know cuz I'm a light sleeper and she sleeps by my butt or back all night). So, I don't need to crate her at night. This has been the routine so far...wake up and go out to pee. Then she poops in the house!!!! Then either she goes in the crate or roams around (2 house accidents in a month while roaming around). As soon as I come home, we go out to pee. Then she goes over my moms while I go back to work and pees and poops in the house!!! Then she has free run of the house, but usually stays by my side. When she leaves my side I know she has to go out. But sometimes she'll go pee on the floor. Before bed we go outside. Then we start all over. So, Bootcamp here we come. Now, when to begin... So who wants to join Doggy Crate Training Bootcamp with me?!?! Misery LOVES company!!!

| GOOD LUCK with the doggy bootcamp!!!!!! You can SO do it and we'll all be here to support you!!!! Size does NOT matter if you are 100% sure that Baby does not go potty in her crate. If she DOES go potty in her crate, then size does matter. I have 2 yorkies and Hobbs would potty in his crate so I had to make it small, but Hootie does not potty in her crate so she gets a "1st class" crate that is bigger and has lots of blankets and is nice and comfy. But if you put her in the larger crate and you find that she is pooping or peeing in there, you will get no where unless you make her crate small. So, you'll just have to try it out and see. GOOD LUCK! If you have any questions about the crate training along the way, PM me. I've crate trained both my babies so I would love to be of any assistance if you shall so need it. |

So, I'm glad I don't have to go buy a smaller crate. I gave my small one to my aunt...I can't go and take it back!!!
