| Puppy a TERROR after obedience class! Help! My puppy just started dog obedience classes 3 weeks ago and every time she comes home she is a total and complete terror! She's making ok progress with housetraining, but will run around the house peeing everywhere after class and won't mind me at all. Has your dog ever done this after coming back from somewhere? Maybe she's too excited from all of the activity. I take her for a long walk afterwards to pee and burn off energy but it doesn't seem to help. How do you get them to settle down after so much excitement? |

| Yes, it does sound like she is over-excited/stressed. After taking her out to pee, I would probably contain in her one room (that doesn't have carpet), give her a Kong or bone to chew on, and try to ignore her as much as possible so that she can calm herself.

| I think the running around and the peeing are separate issues. Loki runs top speed in circles around the house after class, after daycare, even after a walk. I just figured he was burning extra energy! He even does it after a bath! When he was a puppy he would get excited about a new toy or whatever and have an - simply because puppies have a one track mind and he didn't want to take a break from his toy to go outside. Now he still gets excited, he just doesn't have the accidents any more. For the peeing I would confine her at that time. Confining her when you know she is likely to have accidents is a great way to prevent them! I totally agree about the Kong and letting her calm down.
