| What to do when dog starts hating riding in the car? He's starting to hate it just now, and I have no clue why? I put him in a carrier and buckle the carrier with the seatbelt because I want him to be safe. Well, he's not crazy about it. He starts those sharp yelping screams, that literally makes me jump... A while ago he'd protest a few minutes then settle down. But now he screams most of the time. He's 4.5 months old and I have to take him in the car if I take him to work with me (it's about 30 minute drive on the highway and I can't have it with those screams). Pls help, I'd love to take him with me sometimes but I'm getting fed up with his yelps... I always put a chew toy/a little snack inside, doesn't seem to help

| He's still so very young! When he starts yelping, tap his crate a little and tell him to hush. He will get used to it and settle down. He just needs to get used to it. Good luck! |

| Emma is terrified of the car too. I used to crate her like you did, with the seat belt. She too will make those awful screams, barks, and howls in there. It's SO hard to concentrate on the road when she does that! I recently got a doggie-carseat that hooks over the front seat head rest and around the seat. I put her in that-she's anchored by her harness attached to the carseat so she can't jump out. Though she still freaks out in there, her howls and screams are reduced to a nervous panting. I'm not crazy about having her in the front seat with the airbag and all, but I suppose that's safer than having the distraction of crying and barking! You might try one of these...got it at Petsmart, brand is "Outward Hound", I think it was $30 or so. |
