It took me a long time too (they are almost 2 years old)! They are still an occactional accident and I still would not trust them in someone elses home. I use the doogie litter box and I put the wee wee pads inside (and under neath - for extra potection). Roxy is GREAT. She will pee and poop inside the box, she will on occasion - under stress - pee on a on towel that I use uner their water bowl. TJ is bugger with the litter box. Sometimes he goes all the way in and will sqwot (sp?) or left his leg, BUT MOST OF THE TIME, He puts his 2 front legs inside the box and lifts his leg - hence that's why I put the wee wee pads under the box too! - Extra protect for my little pee bugger! TJ will poop in the box, BUT he will also sometimes poop in a few other SPECIAL PLACES that he likes!!! I POSITIVE PRAISE AND TREAT REWARD - Heavily and ALL THE TIME. Even though they are not 100% - WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY!!! P.S. Roxy will pee and poop outside - whereever, IF she has to go. My little bugger TJ... HE WILL ONLY MARK OUTSIDE - never a full pee and NEVER POOP. As a matter of fact, he will ONLY poop in my home! If we are out and he is at someones house, he will hold it (for hours..) until he comes home - MEN???

You can try putting the pee pads in a shallow, under the bed storage container, or putting his toy boxes and beds around it. You might also try putting the pads where he prefers to go and then slowly moving then to where you want them to be. Be assured that he is not doiing it to be naughty. He just is not getting that he needs to go in a designated spot. Before putting a pad in the box, you could try wiping up pee with it so it has the scent, and laying poop on it so it gets that scent also. You don't have to leave the poop there, it will get the scent if you just lay it there and then pick it back up. Good Luck and don't give up. If you remain persistant he will eventually get it. But if you find that something is not working, after a week of trying, then try something else. I know they say to be consistant, but if they're not getting the message then it is like talking to a wall.

you could try using a product called Boundary, I haven't used it but I've heard good things about it. Petsmart sells it, it basically has a scent or something that tells your dog not to go wherever you spray it. And if the spots are not thoroughly cleaned up Lucky will think it is ok to go there again Baloo was the same about pooing on the pads until we put half of the pad into an old box and the other half onto the carpet or linoleum. The box would be on its side so it had a top to cover him. For some reason he's really shy about going poop in the open, he likes to hide, even when we're outside he'll go under the bushes! lol...Eventually we moved the pads out of the box and put his pad in the corner of his x-pen...another weird thing he likes going in corners. Do you also have the pads that have a scent that makes the dog want to go on them? I think I have Jump Start or Rapid Start, I can't remember. I hope things get better for you and Lucky
