| I dont have carpet, but I do put something down to protect the wood floors. I bought a large pan that is meant for a kennel - it's good because it's made of plastic and easy to wipe clean, plus, it has a small lip on all sides so nothing will run off the edges. GORJESS also had a good idea - she is using a shower curtain laid down on the floor to protect her carpets. You could get a cheap clear shower curtain liner and cut it to the size you want.

| Emma has an x pen on carpet that she is in all day and most nights (yes, we sometimes let her sleep with us!) I bought a waterproof crib sheet for baby cribs that goes down underneath it. I went to the fabric store, it comes on a roll and is about 48" wide. I got two yards. It's flannel on one side, and soft waterproof rubber on the other. We put the flannel side DOWN on the carpet, with the waterproof one up. Then I bought a couple yards of some different flannel fabric that we put on top of it. If she dumps her water bowls or has an accident, it's really easy just to pick up the flannel cover and wash it, and wipe down the plastic crib sheet. She has several covers since flannel is so cheap, many with paw prints, poodles, and bones on them. It makes for a very cute and easy to maintain little room for Emma! Oh-forgot to add that the waterproof sheet can also be machine washed and dried, so it's a good deal all around. |

| Vinyl flooring seems to be popular with many people having this situation. It doesn't stain easily and is a breeze to clean. Most flooring businesses have remnants ,which are much cheaper, of current stock patterns. Even Lowe's and Home Depot have it. I think I would get it a little larger than your pen just in case of accidents and to lessen chewing/scratching damage. When you don't need it out you can easily roll it up and stick it in the closet. Good luck. |

| My ex-pen is set up on my carpet in the living room. For a liner, I bought the cheapest vinyl shower curtain I could find (about $6). It is very easy to clean. I also discovered that I can tape the corners of the pee pads to it, so Gracie can't play with them and move them all around. I just use packing tape. Finally, one small victory! Ha Ha FYI, I bought some kennel wipes at PetsMart. They are more than handy to keep next to the ex-pen, along with a roll of paper towels, for fast and easy clean up.

| I had my xpen on carpet, but I guess Im one of the ones that didn't have anything on the carpet. I was afraid of putting the shower curtain down because I didn't want her missing the pad and then getting all in her pee. What i did was not let the xpen out all the way. There was enough room for the pee pad, her food & water and then bed and toys. As she got older, I made it bigger. She never missed the pad! I made sure to get the ones that attract with the smell. Good luck!
