Do any of you guys move their crates around during the day. When I get my pup I want to keep the crate in the family room during the day and at nite move it to our room. Does it interfere with training them?? I plan on having a litter box with puppy pads in his crate. Its a pretty big crate.. I just didnt know if it would confuse them...

I used to move mine back and forth but then it seemed to upset Chloe. She doesn't like when I move any furniture around and loves the schedule to same the same. I leave 4 times a day to leave for work, then return and so on. Chloe knows we go into the backyard in between and she also knows the last trip home, I don't intend to leave again. When I change this, she doesn't act right. I don't know yet how Sissy is going to act with change because I don't change the furniture crate or schedule much any more. What I did do is invest in a playpen for the livingroom, the crate stays where they sleep and I can make a list twice as long as this post of all the good reason this was the best decision for us. Good Luck with whichever way you decide to go

Maddie was really mad when I moved hers. We keep her in the family room. Well one day I moved her to the dining room which is traveled just as much.. She barked and barked and barked until I moved her back. The minute I moved her back the barking was gone and still to this day she doesnt bark in her crate. It was so funny. I thought my hubby was stupid when I said I wonder what is wrong with Maddie. He said she is mad at you and doesnt make to be in that room. I was like oh come on... He said watch.. then he moved her back to the family room. Silence..... Hubby was right after all. - First time for Everything....LOL

I have owned my baby yorkie "Billie" since July 28th, 2006. When He arrived, we had everything for him (his bed, crate, bowls, toys, etc.).

The first three days, I slept in the family room so I can supervise him and make sure He used his pee pads and did not get in trouble at all. After that, I put his crate in the family room during the day. At night time, I put his crate in my bedroom by my bedside. He stays quiet in there and does not wake up until I do. Now, after being tired of moving the crate back and forth I purchased a portable crate that looks like a tent, and He loves it too. He stays there like in the other one.

Do not place the litter box with pee pad in the crate. This will confuse him and he will start pooping and peeing in the crate. The crate is meant to be his den, so do not place food or pee pads in it. Also, the crate can not be a big size, it has to be just the enough size that he can stand up and turn.

I've been moving JErome's crate lately and that is b/c i want to keep an eye on him when I'm working around the house and it doesn't seem to bother him, but I'm actually thinking about buying another crate.

Very funny Denise but you know what, Chloe does that to my couch when I move it. Table when I wash the diningroom floor.. I want to move their 2 playpens on the other wall and am so afraid to, I just don't know what I'll do for my Christmas? or maybe no tree

I had her last Christmas but have bought half the dog store since. And now I have 2 of everything and 2 girls that own a bunch of stuff, beds, playpens, crates - they have something in every room of the house so I guess I'm stuck leaving things where they are. Perhaps I wil put the Christmas tree on the porch!

my puppies dont seem to mind me moving some things. but when I blocked off my living room they looked so confused and once they saw they couldnt get in there anymore they both (especially kizzy) laid around for a couple of days but the first day, Kizzy wouldnt even hardly look at me , just lay and pouted all day. It was kinda funny tho.

When we got Hootie, we were planning on leaving her crate in our room during the day with the door shut so our older yorkie, Hobbs, could not go in there and torment her since he has full run of the house (bc he's 100% potty trained). But Hootie just whined and whined and whined whenver we shut that door to our room. So, we moved the crate out to the living room where Hobbs stays during the day and she no longer whines. She actually LIKED the fact that I moved her crate. So, I dunno what to tell you.

We have had both of ours sleep in bed with us since day one, so there honestly is no need for us the move the crate.

It's very funny when these little guys get that "Attitude", I know exactly what you mean. Chloe does it all the time, recently started giving that same "attitude" to Sissy now, not only me. Sissy hasn't learned how to do it yet, she does what she wants, when she wants & doesn't let anyone get in her way. Little independant one, she is

What I have is a play pen and his crate inside the play pen (I am going to try to take a pic of the setting)but at night we take him and his crate to our room and he sleeps there. So far he has been good.
