Potty training still...........what about? My 8 month old Zoie is doing pretty good now with potty training. I take her out alot to the backyard and she has been getting free run of the house most of the time, if she's inside, but we keep her in the backyard alot in the morning and at night when she seems to poop the most! She still will do her peeing in the kids play room which is downstairs....but she likes to take her poop to my bathroom (upstairs) or to another room if that's too inconvenient. Her favorite places to use the bathroom seem to be the playroom or my bathroom, I have to clean up at least 3-4 spots in the playroom a week. We do crate her if we are running upstairs and aren't sure whether she's used the bathroom lately or not. My husband wants to prohibit upstairs from her, which is fine, but with me being home all day and with a kid or two all day, it's not practical to put a gate there if I'm running laundry up or the kids are playing upstairs. My question is what to do since she has Picked rooms that she feels she should use the bathroom in. She sometimes will come straight inside and run upstairs to poop on my bathroom floor!!!!!!!!! Like she thinks this is what she should do??? IDEAS?????

I don't know if this will confuse your little one or not but I found some grass smelling pee pads. Apparently they are supposed to help with outdoor training. You might want to put one upstairs in the playroom and then move the pad closer to the door outside. It might take awhile but it might help your yorkie focus on what grass smells like and make the association between the two.

The reason she is not potty trained yet is because you really do have to watch her like a HAWK and when you catch her going potty inside you HAVE to punish her and take her outside! When you are at home all day and running around the house, the very best thing to do would be to put her on a leash and tie the leash around your belt loop. That way you will ALWAYS have an eye on her. Take her out very often, too! Don't ever let her out of your site! If for some reason you need to do something and you can't keep both eyes on her, then she needs to be put in a crate or pen of some sort. Best of luck to you! It just takes a lot of persistence and consistency. You cannot possibly be consistent if you don't watch her like a hawk at all times!

I did watch her like a hawk for like 2-3 months and did the crate thing too when i couldn't watch her! I guess I'll have to gate the whole DANG downstairs off!! There's no other way.........I can't watch her if I sit down to watch tv or do laundry or housework. I have a 2 and 5 year old who won't leave me alone if I have a leash on her. I'm not sure how to incorporate your advice since I can't spend every minute of my existence watching her. I just can't. i try to at night when we actually let her run around and I can't watch tv, I can't cook, I can't carry a conversation on because she'll go around a corner and I'm up yelling ZOOOOOOIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEeee!!! And chasing after her!!! Then if I put her outside she barks incessantly. I put her in her cage and she WHINES. I turn her out again and she runs arond again and then I'm back jumping out of my chair again (which is really annoying because I just have two hours without kids and then the DOG ruins it for me everynight). to go get her or find where she's playing at. My downstairs is open floor plan, so she can go into the foyer, kitchen, dining area, breakfast area, etc.
