| Dog Whisperer Yorkie Episode 7/31 Anyone watch this episode last night? I know I'm going to catch alot of heat for this one.......my significant other/human or "Boyfriend" spent the whole time criticizing me about my 2 Yorkies, I denied it since my 2 are a male & female not 2 males. Besides I suppose I'm in "Denial" just like everyone else? Which brings me to my question......"How many of you SOCIALIZE your Yorkie's"? With other Dogs or even more importantly with other Yorkie's? I have the Luxury of living right next door to the "Barc Park", both of mine have been going since they were puppies, besides being attached to my hip and I take them everywhere I can! I'm just curious for us with Yorkies that episode seemed normal; to have the gates, attack the vaccuum cleaner, etc. I think it's sad when I meet people whom admire my Babies/Yorkies, that they give me compliments, but complain that they're too expensive, too tempermental, too fragile thus have to held, bark & bite too much and can't be trained. With that kind of input I made sure mine were the opposite. Yorkies have always been a Luxury item thanks to the Media, I think it's our duty to promote the Breed in a positive way??? |

| I personally thouht it was very educational on how to re-act to this breed when misbehaving, alot of times I would watch this show and think," but those are bigger dogs, mine are babies"...I can no longer say that... Hubby was practicing the "Shhesst" last night... hee he |

| I thought it was a very good episode. I have used the shhhtttt on mine before and it does work. I believe then can be taught to stay in one area without the gates. I just haven't taken the time to initiate that, I am hoping the gates are only temporary, until I can trust them not to potty on the carpet. Mine are still young. I never had gates with my other yorkies. I don't have a behavior problem. I guess I have always taken the roll of the pack leader. Mine are not allowed to park, they are not allowed to rush out the door when it is opened. They do tend to pester company, I have to wiork on that, but most company encourages it. |

If they take things that are yours, or attack the vacuum cleaner, or a bush, as one of them did, just correct them. Period.... don't allow them to do those things. As the pack leader, everything belongs to you until you tell them that they can have it. Once you establish to them that you are the leader, they will respect that concept. It's instinct for them to respect the leader. Here is a link to his website. He pretty much explains his whole theory there, and once you undertand it, it will work with any dog. http://www.dogchannel.com/experts/cesar/default.aspx | |

| Too much of a good thing?? I am curious as to how many of you have more than one Yorkie & why? Its just my husband, Little Bit & I and I am wondering if I am being unfair keeping her by herself. I am home most of the time so she is not alone much but I'm quite sure I'm not as playful as another puppy would be. LOL Does their having to share your attention make up for the advantages of having another dog to play with. If you do have another dog, how do Yorkies & Maltese get along? Thanks for your input. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I know what I learned from that Show....I need Ceaser NOW. My girls go nuts over the doorbell ringing AND the vacuum cleaner ....I almost sucked Chanels face up once (just kidding) but she LOVES to chase it. Those 2 yorkies were NUTS but so cute. |

YT 3000 Club Member | Im so glad I did not see that episode, chester is a very good boy, he will get cranky with some other dogs but that is about it. He loves kids, he will not run off if I open the door maybe when he was younger. He likes cats and he has done hardly any damage to my apartment, and he is not a barker but he hates to be left alone in a car unless he is in a crate, he is my baby boy. He also knows all his commands, but he was a burger to potty train plus I had never done it before, atleast not little dogs, yorkies rule......................and they are very smart and they are the best watch dogs................... |
