Help for 1yr old yorkie girl Hello my name is Chris. I have a yorkie boy (neutred) named Remmy who is the light of my life. He is the best dog. we recently added a new addition to our family...Silk. She is a yorkie female (recently spayed). Remmy is two and silk is one. Remmy and silk are not buddies . They sometimes fight but not bad. Mostly Remmy wants nothing to do with her. I thought it would be easier to get an older yorkie vs. a puppy...because it would already be potty trained. Well that is turning out to not be the case. Silk was accustomed to a doggie door and pee pads at her breeders. when I brought her home I put down pee pads...however she never used them. I take her out when I take Remmy out...which is frequently. She will go outside but then come in the house and use the bathroom also. I keep a diaper on her in the house when I can't watch her. She still poops when I have a diaper on her. So at night I have to crate her...I keep her in my room but she wants to get up at 3am...I'm not a morning person to say the least. I choose this morning to ignore her and when I got up at 6am to let her out she had pooped and peed in her crate. Help me... I don't know what I am doing wrong. The only thing I can think of is to take away her food and water at a certain time but she is 4lbs and I was concerned about the hypoglocemia thing. Chris

Try taking her out by herself. I know this is a pain (I have 4 dogs), but I take the new ones out by thereself when I first get them until they learn what I want from them (some times this takes several weeks)......after they do their business, I let the other dogs out to do their job, then everyone plays.

I absolutely feel your pain! I introduced Hallie (who was 2) to Simon (who was one) and they did not get along at all either at first. Simon was pee pad trained and Hallie was not. I struggled to get them familiar with each other and also with the potty training which I started over with Hallie since I wanted them both to be consistent. Needless to say it took a lot of patience and a lot of time but it does happen. How long have you had her? It took about 3 weeks for Simon and Hallie to "bond" and during that time I had to give them individual time with me to make Hallie feel comfortable and to make sure Simon got enough attention. I don't know if this is helpful but I hope it is encouraging, I know your frustration but don't give up. It will happen Kim, Simon and Hallie

Hi Chris, congrat on your new addition to your family. How long have you had Silk? When I bought my second puppy home my first yorkie wouldn't do anything with him either. It took about 4 or 5 month before she would even get close to him. The trick is not to force him on her. Just be patient and let them work it out for themselves. Your job is to watch and make sure they don't hurt each other.

Have you thought about starting Silk potty training from the beginning. She has gone through a lot of changes. Keep in mind she has never been on a potty schedule before. She was trained to to out the door when she want to but now she can't go potty when she wants to like before because you don't have a doggy door. Just because you take her outside doesn't mean she understand that it is time to go potty now and not wait until she feels like it.

Well I have basically been doing that. She goes out frequently through out the day. When she is in the house she wears a diaper....like the ones girls where if they are in heat. If we are gone for a period of time she stays in her crate and when we come back home is immediately taken outside for potty time....She still manages to poop when she wears a diaper...but we are getting used to her schedule. I have started to take up food around 7pm...she goes first thing in the morning...once a day. I guess my real issue is whe want to get up so early to go out like 3am or 4am or at the latest 5am.... I have just started putting the food up after 7 or 8pm so maybe this will help. Chris

| I'm beginning to think potty training these dogs is impossible! I have Rylee on a leash hooked to me at all times, and I take her to her puppy pad or outside often. But now, our other dog is thinking the whole house is her potty! I'm going nuts!

It sound like you are doing well on her potty training. Remember, consistency is the key. I don't blame you for not wanting to take her out in the middle of the night or real early in the morning. I think if you strick about her potty schedule it will be better and she will eventually understand when it is potty time.

one of the reason's silk was pooping in her crate was it was to big...I switched to a smaller crate and no poopies this morning when I went to get her. She also did not whine and wake me up at 4am. I actually slept till 6:15am this morning. I started to take her food up by 8pm so she would poop before bedtime also. It worked she pooped last night around 10pm.

we are back to the 4am whinning...what am I doing wrong? She goes to sleep at 10pm...which is the lastest I can stay up. When she whines...I go and tell her no noise and she is quite for about 5mins then starts up again. Anyone have any suggestions and I can't let her sleep with me cuz she wakes up in the middle of the night and potties in my room.
