| try to keep her hydrated by giving her water with some kayro syrup in it with a syringe if necessary or giving her nutrical so her blood sugar doesnt drop. why is she on medication? it sounds like it was too high of a dosage or she is having some kind of reaction. please take her to your vet asap, puppies health can go down very fast. make sure you keep an extremely close eye on her through the night. keep encouraging her to eat also. let us know how she is and what the vet says. good luck to you and welcome to YT!

| I'm not sure about the syrup, just enough to make her want to drink it. You can try to feed her plain boiled chicken, just not too much. You don't want to upset her stomach. Hopefully someone else will be able to give you additional advice. I hope your baby feels better really soon.

Hi, I agree with Megan about the water in the syringe. Don't hesitate to take her to the Vet. again or if you can't get in touch with them, try the emergency vet if nessesary. When my pets get sick whether it's a puppy or an adult dog or a cat, I make sure I get something in them. I know you are not supposed to give table food but I do whatever it takes when they're sick. Whether it's warm water in their dry food, cut up chicken breasts, ground round and rice, Human baby cereal and/or baby meat. or back to puppy or kitty formula. Yep! whatever it takes, I learned that from a wise old Vet. Unless they've ingested something they shouldn't have. Now that is a whole other story. Good Luck & keep us posted ! | Some medicines (a lot actually) make people and pets drowzy or tired. So, this in itself might be expected for a while and may not be anything to worry about. Sometimes when our little pups aren't feeling good - we shouldn't push foods down them or try to force them to eat. A dog can actually go days without food with no ill effects........ NutriCal is a good supplement to try and get down your pup if she doesn't have much of an appetite right now. My vet said that children and pets (us too) often don't have much of an appetite when they're not feeling well or are sleepy and tired. Sometimes their stomachs need a vacation for a day or two - and often if you forced them to eat - they'll vomit...... which causes more dehydration.... Also - these little guys are so small - that they don't need to be drinking huge amounts of water. I think the syringe is a good idea too. If you get a little water far enough back in her throat - her gag reflex will take over and she'll be swallowing some. Good luck. And - remember to go back to the vet if she doesn't start feeling better soon. Carol Jean |
