Terrible twos????? Just when I thought my 16 week old Yorkie was turning the corner on training, he has started having accidents everywhere and anywhere, getting bossy, and chewing on my rugs. I feel like I spend all day scolding him. I hope this isn't his true personalitly coming out and is just a phase. Is this normal?? Any tips on getting him back on track would be appreciated.

Is he teething? I remember my Yoda having problems in the middle of his first year too. We put him in "quarantine", like on a high table by himself after he does something naughty. I think he knows he's being disciplined when this happens. Get some Apple (something) spray for your rugs or where he starts chewing up stuff. It does seem to work.

Also remember to put as much emphasis on praising as you do on scolding. Anytime your Yorkie does something right, praise him, praise him, praise him and give him a treat. Make sure you say "GOOD BOY!!" the second he does something right. This seemed to work with Otis when he was having accidents. Now everytime he poops on the pee pad, he'll dash out to me to get rewarded. Don't worry! Just be patient and your Yorkie will learn!

yes, as Junebug says, PATIENCE is key. It does take time for them to learn, and praise does help. I personally think they feel good when they are doing a task and are rewarded. I think they think it's their job, and doing well on your job is always good!

That's a classic Yorkie story, bettyanne! Yoda knows exactly what he can get away with, he's just smart in that way as well. He knows not to jump on the coffee table (it's same height as our couch), but if there's some food on the table, he'll always be on his hind legs to try to get a lick or two in! Always! Until we tell him "NO!" then he'll scurry about and look for a toy.
