| eating cat poop? I've been reading about dogs eating their own poop - any ideas on how to get them to stay out of the cats boxes? I clean the boxes out all the time, but Tinka still can find a time to get in there and find her "treat." Is there something to put on cats food to make their poop yucky to dogs? thanks, omega |

| I talked to my vet about this, Sophie was getting into the cat litter box and whew, did she smell.....the vet said he didn't know why they liked to get into the litter box. My fix was to buy a covered kitty litter box and put it up high... you can use a table, shelf, or anything the kitties can reach but the pup can't reach... It worked for us... and the kitties like their privacy...

| Dogs having an incredible sense of smell can detect all the undigested food and nutrition in cats poop, this is why the like it so much. I am sure if your dog could pick out the undigested stuff from the poop he would, but he can't and will eat both. It is disgusting. I gated off a section for the cats to use the catlitter box. After all cats have no problem jumping a gate unlike yorkies who can't jump something that high. So you could try that, this way you know that they won't get into and your cats will be happy to have their own private place. Just gate a room or even a corner large enough for the cat box.

| I have covered boxes - three of them. I guess I will try to find places that Tinka can't reach. Hmmm, this could be a challange. omega |

| With my puppy, we have two cats so it was double the trouble. We searched around and found a Automatic Cat Litter Box at Canadian Tire. It scoops the poop 10 minutes after your kitty cat poops it out. We have found it very effecitve and do not find much cat poop around the house anymore |

| My vet said it was "normal" to eat the cat poop, I think its gross...i have 2 yorkies, a boy and a girl...Harry D...LOVES going in there..and Winnie wants nothing to do with it! Harry seems to only go in it when someone forgets to clean it out..other wise we are ok...

| I have two cats and my 2 yorkies love cat poop!.I cant use the covered boxes because one of cats is to big. I put a gate going across the door. There is 2 containers of litter supporting the Gate.I found out the size of the bathroom door is smaller then the gate.So the Gate and 2 containers of Litter works best. The cats just jump over the gate when they need to go.I dont have small Yorkies so Im not worried about the gate falling over.
