| Doggie Doors???? Ok.... I am having issues with Potty Training over here! The addition of the third member of our fur family has thrown everything off! Pixie and Paris were like 85% there!! they were doing soooooo good! and Gizmo... is not! He needs a major refresher in potty training! He is also a very loose stool kinda guy! ugh! very yucky! No more treats for him at all! Anyway! Its a total mess now! I was going to install a doggie door in my bathroom and my kitchen, the two areas that I have them sectioned off in during the day and night. But is that a good idea??? Will they use them?? How do you train them to use doggie doors?? Right now I take them outside... and they go! They have that down... But they have plenty of "Accidents" inside... ugh! Should I even bother with the doggie doors?? Will it even help?? I crate them when I am not home. And they do great! Any thoughts??? Do any of you have doggie doors???

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | The way to train them using the doggie door is install the door, then temporarily tape up the flap, then you and someone else sit on opposite sides and throw treats calling the dog through. After they get used to going through the doggie doors, put the flap down and repeat the exercise of throwing treats through the door. Some dogs are a little skittish about the flap and you may have to push them through a few times for them to totally get it. Good luck, hopefully your dogs will be quick learners. |

| Putting in a doggie door made the difference of 75% success vs 100% success with Edie. It is the single best thing I ever did for her. Let me tell you a story--- Shortly after installing the doggie door Edie got up in the middle of the night. She went down her ramp (from our bed) and then I heard her "thump thump thump" down the stairs. I heard her pitter patter through the dining room and kitchen and then I heard her doggie door open. I went to my bedroom window and looked out to our fenced back yard. There was Edie, doing her business at 3 a.m. After she was done, I hear the doggie door open, pitter patter through the kitchen, thump thump thump up the stairs, and up the ramp to our bed. I WAS SO PROUD!!! |

| I've been thinking of installing a new storm door with a doggie door in it. My guys are penned up at night, but during the day they could use it. I have been pee pad training, and they re doing really well with that. they go when I take them outside, but they do not ask to go out. |
