| Getting Along with others I have a new male yorkie puppy (5 months old) who is a sweetheart, but very energetic! I also have a 3 year old female yorkie who is very calm. We have had the puppy for over a month. She tolerates him, but is not in love with him yet! They sort of play together, the puppy nips at my her legs, face, tail, and the sort of fights with her for toys. It seems like she gets irritated with the puppy. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to get them to love and cuddle with each other? Will they get along better over time?

| I think if you give it time it will get better. But you really can't force the relationship. I have had my 17 week old pup now for 8 weeks and my older Maltese (10 yrs) is just starting to come around. The puppy is always... and I mean ALWAYS!, jumping at, pulling at, playbiting at, and just in general being a P I T A to my Maltese, but they are starting to play and they love to sleep together. Just be sure to be there to supervise them when they are together and if things get too rough, you may have to correct one or both depending on what the situation is. At first my Maltese would not even let the pup close to her, she would semi-growl-fake-snap at her to say "stay away from me you foreign invader to MY home!!!" lol Have patience, I am willing to bet it will get better. And remember to give your older girl lots of love and attention and maybe even some extra, it will make her feel more secure that this little puppy isn't going to steal you away from her.
