| A Whole Lot of Bad Behaviour I know there has been many posts about these particular things, but none of them have worked for me. I've had my yorkie for about 3 weeks and some days are better than others. She doesn't listen! She loves biting on fingers/hands and chewing on electrical cords. I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how i can put all the cords together and tie them up so she can't chew on them. Because she knows that when she does it she gets introuble but she does it anyways, even when I'm right there. About the biting.. you can do just about anything in the book and she still bites. I have ignored her, told her oww until she has stopped but once you move your hand away she lunges for it all over again. I've tried to substitute a bone for the hand but she won't take it...and she has A MILLION things to play with. Another thing that I am having trouble with is Crate Training. When I got her from her breeder the breeder said she was crate trained, but low and behold when I got her home, she HATED being in the crate, which is to be expected since she was a new puppy but you can have her in their for hours and she will still be barking to be let out. Even at night, she won't sleep anywhere but in bed with me. She can be dead asleep, but when I move her to the crate she will cry and bark until I let her out and let her come back in the bed with me. You can even see me in bed from the crate which most people recommend to do until they are used to you not being there. She also goes absolutely nuts when I leave for work, she bites my pants, my ankles.. basically anything she can get her little mouth around so I won't leave. Shes completely attached to me and is bad when she goes around others while I'm at work. She has also been trying to attack my 11 year old pomchi. Shes 12 pounds while my almost 3 month old yorkie is only 4 pounds. Roxy (the yorkie) will pounce around her and lunge at my pomchi. I am also wondering how long Yorkies teeth for. Shes 3 months and still teething..just wondering if this will last much longer. I remember when we first got my pomchi she didn't teeth this long! Nothing is working..and writing this post makes it seem like shes completely bad, but like I said above.. some days are way better than others. Please someone help me before I go bonkers!! |

| I got my yorkies to stop bitting by spraying bitter apple on my fingers...letting her bite me and saying ouch. She associates the tast and sound to being bad. lol. The Bitter Apple really works but if you try it wash your hands after because the taste is nausiating...lol. I made the mistake of forgetting and found out the bad way. It did finally stop the bitting and chewing. I sprayed it on things they chewed on and they stopped then I introduced toys which they could have and could enjoy chewing on. |

| Thank you!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! You guys are a miracle. Reading your replies made me feel so much better! This bitter apple spray, where do you get it? Can you get it at Walmart? please let me know and thanks again! She has a million toys but seems to like chewing on a pop bottle the best. or her Dingo Brand rawhide bones(I suggest to anyone who has never heard of these to look them up at dingobrand.com and get some!!!) to the post about her sleeping in my bed, I already have one dog in my bed and they don't like eachother all that much so its hard to sleep with both of them. Thanks again! you guys are great! |

| We got our poodle/bichon mix to stop biting by rubbing a little butter on our hands and saying "kisses". She stopped biting to lick the butter off and after a while associated our hand with kisses!! It really worked. |

| I think our girls are twins Everything you are saying your puppy does, mine does the EXACT thing... she will be 4 months next weekend, and sometimes she's just such a good girl but then she has her days were i've nicknamed her Crocadile Rylie, she LOVES to bite specially fingers... after reading posts from here i went out and bought the Bitter Apple i must tell you that for my puppy it did not work... she would lick my fingers and keep chewing on everything i sprayed it on. What i have found works and distracts her for a while are Digestable/edigble Nylabone... but because she is such a chewer the pet store people told me to go for "wolf" size rather then the little petite ones.. (they last a lot longer also) Another thing that distracts her from biting and getting into trouble is i give like piece of carrot..(baby carrot size) she loves it and plays by herself with it before she sits down to eat it... Good luck with the puppy training.. Rylie starts her puppy classes tomorrow so hopefully that will help me and her with the training.

| My experience with the Bitter Apple was quite similar. She licked it at first and kind of chewed but then she started gaging. Maybe you didn't shake the bottle before you sprayed it? I'm not sure.. Anyways, my puppy is getting better now. But she does have her off days.. |

| Here's a great solution for the electrical cords. It's a product called Critter Cords -- a clear plastic sheath that goes over the electrical cords that's infused with a citrus deterrant taste. They have worked wonders at my house, as my Archie was just fascinated with electrical cords. You can find them at www.crittercord.com. As for the biting, my little devil is also a problem biter. Nothing worked until the vet suggested that I simply put him down on the floor when he bites and tell hin No Bite! And then ignore him for 10-15 minutes, even turning my back on him. He has a long way to go with the biting issue -- but I HAVE seen some improvement in his behavior. He tends to bite less during regular activitiy -- but he still bites when he gets excited during play. I think it's just something you have to keep working on -- it may take a few more months. Good luck!
