| he waits until we come in from a walk! Straszny is about to being house training. We used pee pads all winter, and the weather seems to be getting consistanly nice now, so let the training begin. He LOVES being outside, and when we go on walks, he will "hold it" until we get back inside, and will then relieve himself, be it on the pee pads or on the floor. He has peed outside twice, and pooed once. (He poosed in the middle of the road(a lane, not a busy road). It was funny that he didn't care about the grass. Anyway, I am off track. Do any of you have a suggesti9on for this? I debated picking up on of his little poos and putting it outside for him to smell....? |

| I understand your frustration as Pippa did this also for a while and she didnt really care where she did it as long as it wasnt on her walk. So i started to say to her 'wee wee's' when she was doing her business (1 & 2) in the garden and gradually she understood the word and then i started to say 'wee wee's' when we were out on a walk and she clocked on!!! Now she knows when she goes out for walkies (and without me telling her)thats when she should do her business

| OMG! YorkieLover, my Meeko is the exact same. First of all, he doesn't care much for grass. But secondly, he WILL NOT poop outside!! He will drop a few pee pee drops here and there, but NO POOP. As soon as we get home, he runs over to the pad and does his business. (not always on the pad, btw) I don't know what to think of this. |

| I have two friends whose dogs wouldn't pee or poop when they were on a leash -- and saved it until later. This was simply because they were so close to their owners (on a leash). They just didn't want to be caught going to the bathroom because they had learned to equate it with doing something wrong. My pup readily goes outside. But -- I often have him out on a 50-foot clothesline (leash). This way, he is nowhere near me when he goes to the bathroom --and in the meantime, he has learned that I think it is wonderful when he goes outside....because I still see him do it and can praise him for doing it Perhaps if you can find a way for him to have more freedom and be further away from you when you are outside, he will go to the bathroom.....using a very very long leash like I use does help a lot. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| Meeko isn't even on a leash when he is outside. He is in a large fenced in backyard. And even at the Bark Parks around here, he isn't on a leash. But no GO! And on the few occassions that he is on the ground and on a leash, its a 16' retractable. |

| I think just give it some time and he should be okay. My Tiger is the same . . . winter here means snow and very cold so he is used to the pad. But now that it is spring, I always take him for a walk and he pees on the grass. He is however in a crate for 7 hours so he is ready to go . . the funny thing though is that I have a very long and steep driveway so it takes about 3 minutes running down and onto the side of the road to get to the grassy area and not once did he mark on my area Perhaps you need to make sure he really needs to go before you take him . . .eventually he'll get used to it. Tiger even lifts his leg and pees on practically all the same spots I fnd it so funny! |

| Max was doing the same thing-he would pee outside but always poo inside. My husband told me to watch for him to circle and sniff......I caught him in the act one day-he was circling and sniffing so I watched to see if he would assume the position. He squatted and I said "Max, no. Outside". I put him on the leash and took him outside to finish the job. Once outside, I gave him the command, "Go Potty" and he did. Now, he always goes poo outside and has not missed on that one for about a week! YEA MAX!!! PS. we still have an occassional pee accident in the house but those are becomining less frequent-I'm not sure who is trained here as I take him out after all naps and after he eats. Averages about every two hours although at night we take him out at bedtime (10:30 - 11:00) and he only rarely wakes us up before the alarm goes off (5:30). I haven't found any wet spots in the bed and he sleeps with us all night so we're thinking we're pretty lucky.
