| What the heck?!?! Ok, so you all know that Sully is *usually* an extremely well-behaved, good natured, well-trained dog. WELL.........Houston, we have a problem. EPISODE #1 Sully and I often go for walks on the beach. The other day, I let Sully off-leash for a few minutes b/c he loves sniffing the waves and chasing seagulls. That was all fine and good until he, umm, marked a towel belonging to a surfer who was on the way to get his towel! I can still see the whole thing in slow motion, the surfer-dude, complete with surfboard and wetsuit, saying "noooooooooooo" and sprinting toward his towel. I am coming from the other direction, also sprinting and saying "noooooooo, Sully, nooooo!" So, that was the end of Sully being allowed off-leash on the beach, lol. Can we say EMBARASSING?!!! EPISODE #2.......as if the first one wasn't bad enough. On Saturday evening, we took Sully to the beach while with friends to have our pictures taken as a group with the sunset, etc. on Sullivan's Island by the lighthouse. A six year old girl and a two year old boy come running up to Sully with no fear wanting to pet him. Sully loves kids so of course I allowed it. After a few seconds of petting, Sully sniffs the 2yr old's leg and um, LIFTS HIS!!! Horrified, I snatched my pooch up so quick I'm sure he didn't have the chance to get any pee out but GEEZ!!?!!?! He was on leash and I was less than a foot away even!!! I'm done with this! Sully was neutered at 6 mo. old and he's 1 yr. 8 mo. old now! He never even marked BEFORE he was neutered and I can understand a bush or tree here and there but this is ridiculous. Is there a way to discourage this bad habit or are belly bands my only option?! (He never EVER marks in the house, tho.) And if you don't have any advice for me, yeah well go ahead and laugh 'cos it is pretty funny. Bad, but funny nonetheless.

| Great stories. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. But don't you hate when they start to regress?

| I heard Ceasar Milan (sp?) say that when a dog pees on you it's because he doesn't respect you. Not really sure how that applies to the Sully situations since he didn't even know the surfer or little girl but I thought I'd toss it out there. P.S. Are you sure you didn't teach Sully to pee on the surfer's towel? It reminded me of the beer commercial where the guy trained his Beagle to snatch the girls' bikini tops so he could meet them! |

And Nicole, this isn't as much of a "regression" as it is brand new. He never did mark anywhere, inside or out. And about the belly bands thing, wouldn't it be strange to walk my dog on the beach and make him wear a belly band?! I dont' know I mean it's better than him marking a poor little 2yr old boy's leg but geez. (He wagged his tail, licked the boy's face first?! Sully, you're weird.)

| Don't mean to laugh, Val, but come on!! It's funny!! LOL!!! I don't know what to suggest, but should you check with a vet to rule out a UTI? It just doesn't sound like the Sully that I know!!

| Funny you mention this... FRiday I took Bailey to a new pet store, they had stacks of dog food in piles on the floor, well guess what, everytime we passed on he would Hike his leg on it,, I would pull him quick enough that he would get anything on it,,but I'm like you.. WTH, I understand my episode more, cause I'm sure everything smelled like other dogs,, But your's is strange....hmmmm I'm no help, but I sympathize.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Waaaah Oh god val...thank for the laugh this morning. I am not laughing at you but with you. Wow I don't know what to make of Sully's little exchange there. Oh goodness. I can see how you would be embarrassed. Good luck in finding out what to do about it. Let us know what works. Just in case we end up in that same situation. For now Lex is only five months and hasn't done any of that. Hugs
