| Sometimes they do it when they have a UTI or a bladder infection, might wanna get her checked if she keeps it up, since she was doing so good, it could be something like that?

| Gina, I can't remember... Is Lexi spayed? My Angel would pee everywhere when she was in heat. I think she was marking!

| Yorkie regression My Yorkie was doing this too. He was completely trained and then all of a sudden, he was leaving puddles in every room. There could be a number of causes, new neighbors, new pets, new food, new schedules, but I think age has a lot to do with it too. Now at 1 year old, they are not puppies anymore and seem to test the old rules (and your patience). Best way to handle this? Don't pat attention or get upset. Your Yorkie may interpret this negative attention as a way to get your attention more. Next, think confinement. Pick a room (preferably a bathroom) and put a child safety gate by the door. Put the wee wee pad on one end and the Yorkie's food on the opposite furthest end. Leave a few toys and a place to sleep, that's it. There is little chance your Yorkie should miss the pad now. Reward with gentle happy phrases when he/she does well (or give a treat, whatever works best-- but always REWARD! Yorkies need something to work for!! After a few weeks, your Yorkie should be back on track and you can reward it by allowing it full access of the house as it did before. If he/she starts leaving puddles again, it'd back to confinement. She'/he'll get the message soon after. If they cry or bark when confined, ignore them. Do not give in or it will win and you will have puddles all over the place. Most important: Make sure everyone in your household has to be in agreement with this "punishment" or it won't work. Good luck!!!! |

| Expenses Actually come to think of it, I tried different brands of pads and Rylie "showed" me which ones he preferred and which ones he didn't by peeing on the floor, so I can understand what you're going through. Yes, Yorkies are picky about their pads...! Rylie loves the Four Paws brand at Petco which is approximately $25 for a pack of 30-- BUT the Pathmark supermarket in my neighborhood sells Hartz brand wee wee pads and it's 24 pads for $10 bucks... so guess which ones Rylie's been using lately? |

| In one of three dog/training books I just bought and have been reading through, it said that dogs don't like to pee on hard surfaces because it splatters on them...maybe the news paper was causing it to splash on her? |
