My yorkie's ears need to perk up! My Roxy is 3 1/2 months old and her ears keep flopping forward. At what age should they be up by? Is there a certain point where no matter what you do they will be too old to perk up? I need tips on what to do. Thanks

Welcome to YT. they say 6 months is the point of no return. Have you tried shaving the top 1/3 or taping them?

Just take tape and wrap it around them. the people that showed me, just folded the ear together forward, and wrapped a piece of electrical tape around them. Don't leave it on more than three days, and don't get it wet.. If they don't stay up when you take it off, try it again in a couple of days. Ollie's stayed up after 3 days.

Welcome to YT. Looking forward to see pics of Little Roxy. Sometimes the wight if the hair make the ears flop, so you can trim or shave the hair on the top of her ears. You can also tape them. Here is a link http://glassyorkies.homestead.com/care.html.

I shave the ones of mine that do not stand then I use masking tape to tape them up. I wrap the tape around the ear, but hold them up as if they were standing then tape them.

| It could also be due to her teething period. at about four months they begin to teeth and it's not uncommon for their ears to flop. around six months they perk right back up. I say consult your vet and see what he/she recommends.

Shave the top third both front and back. Cut little squares of masking tape and tape front and back nearly all the way down THEN put a little bridge of tape across from ear to ear. That helps hold them up. Sometimes, even taped, they will fall to the side. It should make them look like little nurses caps or a little tiara. Then you know you've got it right. Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to bother them.

Shaving worked for one of Bella's ears. The other one was standing fine on it's own but as soon as the shaved one stood up, it fell! I've since shaved the other one as well, but it's still drooping. She's almost 4mths so hopefully within the next two mths, it'll stand again.

Thanks everyone for all of the great ideas, especially the link to how to tape the ears with the pictures. I will try it and let you know how it went. I want to add pics of my Roxy but I don't know how. Can someone walk me through it?

Zuzi's ears did the rise/flop/rise/flop routine until she was about 5-6 months old. Then they both stood up and stayed up. It was kind of funny because one would be up, the other down and then vice versa.
