| Potty Blues Hi everyone, My Bella is 13 weeks old. I purchased the poochie bells a few weeks back and we started using them for training...after about a week, she was actually ringing the bells!!! When I would then take her out she would go potty! My boyfriend and I were soooo excited!! Well this week, she has not touched the bells and is just pretty much doing her own thing. Now I know it is too much to expect her to be trained already, but she was moving in the right direction with the bells and seems to have totally forgotten about them??? We are still ringing them when we take her out, but I don't know how to get her to use them again. Do you think it was just a fluke that she was using them in the first place???? Thanks guys!

| go back to taking her out every hour or so when you are home and have her ring the bell with her paw. Say outside? when you ring the bell. Also when I trained chance everytime he rang the bell I would say good boy and get all excited...everytime. Just keep trying...we still have setbacks when it is raining out. |

| You could ask her to ring them before you let her out. I ask Loki "Do you need to go OUTSIDE?" and he rings the bells to answer me. It just reinforces it. However. Please do not expect much from a 13 week old. She probably doesn't even know she needs to go until 2 seconds before she pees. It will come - I promise. Loki is totally outside trained now, even with setbacks he was trained by about the time he was a year old. We had a ton of accidents (mostly our fault, too much freedom) until he was 6 months old, then maybe one a week (again our fault, not enough supervision) until he was a year old when we put up the bells. He's been 100% since we got the bells. You have a headstart since you already have bells. She will do wonderful.

| I havent seen the bells you all are taking about...but I bought a pink fluffly rope strand from the craft store, put an approx 1-2 inch bell on the end and hung it from my front door...I taught Lilly Belle at 5mos to "go ding-ding". I just rang the bell and held her to it, and said ding-ding- and gave her a tiny treat. she learned to jump on her hind legs and ring it- I still gave her a tiny treat...and lots of praise it took about 2-3 afternoons, using about 15min time periods..she would get so excited when she rang the bell...once I taught her that, then instead of a treat, I would say..."ding ding- you want to potty" and we would go out...she now rings the bell and "expects" to go out...and if we dont hear the bell she will keep hitting and jumping at it making it louder and will finally bark... she's 8mos now...much better at house training with a few accidents. (I will say at times she will ring it-just to go out-hmm still working on that) |

| Our little Gracie is using the bells, but we still find that every now and then if she has too much freedom, she forgets what she's supposed to do and runs off and does her business in the house. I would just suggest that you keep her confined when you can't keep a constant watch on her. And as already suggested, take her out on a regular basis. Good luck!!!

| Whats the Bell Method Can someone explain the bell method to me? Where do I get one? Also, is it too late to train a 2 year old yorkie who has mistakes every now and then.
