| I need help today when i was at my parents house, toby got out. He slipped out while my mom and dad were going out the gate, i was yelling for him but they didnt even seem to hear!, i ALWAYS stress this when i come over to WATCH when you go outside because he will follow you. Luckily he wasnt hurt, but he darted right out into the street (a kinda busy street) and then wouldnt come when he was called, he would stand just out of reach and trry to play the catch me if you can game. Some serious drilling is in order for this, i need to take care of this fast..... does anyone have any suggestions? Needless to say i will NOT be playing the catch me game anytime soon. |

| Usually, if I run, Carter will chase me. I run right into the house and he follows! Another trick we use is to have his favorite toy around. Squeeze the toy and he comes running. Hope you find a solution.

| brownies mom hand signals is a great idea especially for when your in a noisy place. We used hand signals when we trained as well. Treats and praise works wonders. I would suggest starting out with treats but then switch to just praise. good luck sue |

| i feel really bad..... he used to stay right with me and now he is in his "terrible twos" stage and is ignoring me. I feel bad, not because he wont listen, but because i am being impatient and getting angry at the fact that he wont listen. I told him to come, and he ran for the hills and hid underneath the dresser where i twisted the hell out of my arm trying to get him out, which made me even more angry because i was hurt trying to get the Fricken dog! i put him on a time out because i didnt want to deal with him, i feel like a bad mama because i lost it over something that we are practicing, i told him 'bad dog' when he wouldnt listen and started to run, that is like the death words to him......its just a bad day for me, im sure he wont hold it against me, but still...... i cant help but feel frustrated and angry at something he KNOWs but just REFUSES to do |

| The use of hand signals is a good idea. My husband trained our 10 week old pup to sit, stay, stand up, come and play dead in one week(I'm not exaggerating) using hand signals and telling him what to do with treats. He now has him doing it with only hand signals. They are smart, smart dogs. They just have a mind of their own sometimes.

| I am still working on training Schatzie to come when called so really can't give you great advise on this one. I know the treat system works well for me though. I am so glad to hear that Toby didn't get hurt during his run/escape trick, whew!!
