| Help, puppy reverting back to not being housebroken Hello everyone. I know there is a thread out there that has the information I need, but there are so many on potty training that I honestly don't have the time to go through them all. I have an almost 12 week old Yorkie girl named Penny. She is the sweetest thing and training her has not been difficult. She was only 5 weeks when I got her because of a lying breeder, but with the help of her vet and this community we had very little problems with her until now. When she was about seven weeks old when she learned how to sit, lay down, and fetch. It took me a good 45 minutes cut into intervals of 15 to train her to do each individual thing. She now knows "stop" and "no." Since day one that we got her we started to take her outside to do her business. We would take her out every 1/2 hour to 1 hour and slowly increased the time intervals she had to hold it. She learned that she needs to go outside and eventually even started wining to be let out when she had to go. Since she was so small when we started and she had a lot of accidents. We decided to clean the carpet since she stopped having accidents so frequently. This helped because the smell of her urine was removed from the carpet and for a few weeks she has been good. We even started create training her and I'm sure that helped even more. The problem is that for the last couple of days she started going on the carpet again. She stopped letting us know when she has to go. So we reverted to taking her out every 2 hours to go outside and she does, but as soon as she walks back in she goes on the carpet again. All I do is tell her "bad girl" and walk away from her to get cleaning supplies and clean her mess. I ignore her for a bit as a sort of punishment. If I catch her when she is about to go I yell "STOP" and "NO" then I let her outside to go. I don't understand why she started doing this if she was doing so good. I wanted to know if any of you had this problem with your babies and if you had any advice for me? |

| Potty training is a process. Barney didn't have it down until he was around 5-6 months old. She's still a baby so she will have accidents. Get an iris pen and confine her to it until she is trustworthy. Take her out every hour or so. When she pees or poos, praise her and give her treats. Let her play outside of the pen for a while. Then, back to the pen she goes. Continue this until she has earned the freedom to play in a more open area. How to potty train your puppy in 5 days is a great book. They have a kindle edition on Amazon that's around $5. Worth every penny. It took me much longer than 5 days, but the ideas are excellent.
