| I took mine out every 30 minutes, and watched them like a hawk the rest the time. Some folks say leashing them to you works great. Here are some threads with great advice: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ebreaking.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ms-solved.html

| I have a 10 m/o female. When I got her she was caged for her first 9 mos, of her life. It took me 6 weeks of trying to go outside every hour to no avail. Sometimes she would go and sometimes not. Mostly peed outside but not poop. I decided to try pad training and within a few weeks she was on a roll. She will still have an accident and I sometimes have to remind her but now she goes both in and outside. I think because I got her the beginning of the winter and she didn't like the cold. Once winter is over I will take her outside because the pads can get pricey. Either way, its a lot harder to train when they are much older and used to doing it whenever and wherever in a cage. Keep trying. I almost gave up. Yorkies are very smart and will get the hang of it but will take time. It has to become a pattern. Also, if the pup is new to your home, it takes time for them to feel comfortable in their new surroundings before they feel relaxed. |
