| 10 year old Yorkie not potty trained!! Help! Hi friends, So I have a 10 year old female yorkie who still is not potty trained. We tried training her as a puppy and that never worked. I think it might have been because we kept switching methods on her though. So today she has a large play pen on our tile basement floor with her food and water dishes, towels to lay on, and a litter box for her to pee in. Almost every night and sometimes during the day she pees on her towels and lays on them like it's no big deal. Half the time she will use her litter box and the other half of the time she is peeing on her towels and laying on them. There is no pattern and it's frustrating. She is not on a regular feeding schedule. We usually leave her food and water out all day and duri ng the night. I am thinking of taking those away at night now. It is because she is picky about when she will eat and my parents were never consistent on the time they fed her. I want to put her on a regular feeding schedule and feed her in the morning because my parents are never home in the evenings during dinner time and I'm going back to school soon. Any tips on how to house break her? I love her but it's frustrating cleaning up her mess. I don't think my parents realized what they were getting into with a stubborn yorkie. She also hates being in crates and will bark/whine consistently until we take her out. Help =( |

| At thios late stage of the game, and with you leaving for school again soon, I would strongly suggest panties for her.....it has been 10 years and for whatever reasons, her housebreaking training has not been effective for her, so I would be considering an alternative.....doggie diapers is a great choice....I actually had a seamstress that made me many pairs of girlie panties with layers of ruffles on them, like those little girl panties we buy for our little human toddlers.....I put a sanitary pad in a diaper I buy from PetEdge inside the doggie diaper, then put a pair of those adorable little ruffled panties over the doggie diaper. When using diapers or belly bands, hygiene is very important, and you must keep them clean between diaper changes, just like you do with human babies when they are in diapers. I was just wondering.....is she down in the basement, in a pen, all by herself? Is she included in the family activities for the most part, during the day, and just relegated to the pen in the basement at night? Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 01-07-2016 at 07:53 AM. |
