Potty Training or Bladder Problems Hello everyone! I hope I have the right board. I have a couple of Yorkies that are just over one year old. I have 4 dogs in total. The oldest is an 8 year old dachshund mix that we rescued when he was a small puppy. He is wonderful (very protective) with my three girls (Yorkies). I have the Mother who is Daisy and she is 2 1/2 yo, she is a golden silkie Yorkie. I have her two girls, Penelope who weighs about 3.5 pounds and Buffy who weighs about 5 pounds - they are just over one year old. I was going to sell the pups but fell in love with them and could not get rid of them so they are my babies. Daisy, the mother, has never really been potty trained. I find she is very vindictive with her "mistakes". We installed a doggy door and I was hoping she would adopt my dachshunds habits about following him out, which she does, but she comes back in and urinates and poos inside. The puppies have not been trained at all. I started in the beginning crate training them, this did not work out. As soon as they were put in the cage they would urinate. I would then have to bathe them every time. We do not use the crate at all now. I am now using pet pads and as soon as I put a new pad down they dirty it and will not use it again. This gets quite expensive. I am disabled and not able to bend down very well to keep cleaning my floors and to correct them. My 5 pound Yorkie (Buffy) is more high-strung and nervous than the others. I have a guest who would kick her when I wasn't looking behind my back. Needless to say this person is no longer welcome in my home. Buffy is my shadow, I carry her almost everywhere and she sleeps snuggled in my arms like a baby. The past couple of days she has been having some bizarre mistakes. They all gather around my feet when I am trying to use the bathroom and Buffy will try to jump in my lap. I put her down yesterday and as she was walking away she urinated on my foot and all the way out the bathroom. It was like she had no control over it. She tucked her head and ears so she knew she was doing wrong. I fussed but was not too stern on her. Then today I was sitting on the side of my bed which is also her bed and she was laying next to me. I felt warm on my leg and looked down and she had urinated and as she was walking off the bed it was still just trickling out of her like she could not control it. Also, every morning when I walk outside with my son to catch the bus, even if it is only 3 minutes, LITERALLY. I come back and there is urine and poo right in front of the door i went out of. This is from Penelope the smaller Yorkie. I am wondering what everyone here thinks about this? Is it my neglect of correct potty training? A health issue that I should have checked out? Could it be more of a mental/behavioural problem? |
