| Houston, I think we have a potty problem Okay, today, Milo is 22 months. He is indoor potty trained on the Piddle Place. He knows where the right place to go potty is, he looks for his treat right after I see him go potty and praise him and love him up. But when I am not watching him go, or catching him go on the Piddle Place, he has been piddling on the floor, EVERY time I miss acknowledging him by praising him or give him a treat. What am I doing wrong? |

| Are his "accidents" like 4 feet from the pee pad? Frequently, I know they will stand on the pee pad with their front feet, and they THINK they are on the pad, but the tiny hiney is off the pad....THAT makes it very difficult to correct because they THINK they are doing so well, standing on the pee pad, so they (in their precious little minds) are peeing on the paper like momma wants....or pooping on the paper, like momma wants....they just cant figure out how feet can be on the pad but tiny hiney is not over the pee pad! Now, how can we possibly punish them for that?????????????!!!!!!!!!! |

| Hi Yorkiemom1, Actually no, he potty's all over. The thing is he was almost trained, i thought, but when I tried to give him treats only intermittently, whenever he didn't get a treat, the next time he pottied on the floor. He expects a treat every time, and if I'm not there with him when he has to go potty, he potties on the floor. Yet he knows the right place to make potty, and is always looking to make sure I am watching him go so I can give him a treat. He was doing quite well for a while, and then we had a gigantic flood and we were out of the house for 3 months, and had to keep moving from motel to motel because our insurance company wouldn't reserve enough time for us to stay in the motel we were at. So I know he got somewhat confused, but we have been home for almost 3 months, and he is still only going potty when i am present with him and watching him. If I'm not there he potties on the floor. But for some reason pooh, he does on the potty whether i'm there or not.I don't want to have to confine him to a tiny space again because I am busy a lot and cannot be with him very often with undivided attention, as I have a dad with alzheimers 92 yo and a very disabled pup that needs meds like 4x a day. But what am i to do? |

YT 500 Club Member | That little stinker. Have you tried potty outside. Maybe the smell of grass will help. I know if you're gone a lot pads are good. Is the potty pad soiled? My little one goes outside but doesn't pee or poop in the same spot. We have an extra room we don't use. There's nothing in it except carpet. For some reason about once a week Ruger will poop in that room. As soon as he does it he knows he's in trouble. And it's not like he wasn't just outside. He is 8 months old and goes outside very well. I don't know what appeals to him in that room. Of course i clean it right when he does it. Anyone have thoughts on this one. And back to your pup. Who really knows what makes them tick. I still give Ruger treats every time he goes out. Best of luck.
