| 7 yr. old Yorkie urinating on hardwood floors I'm looking for answers as to why our 7 yr. old male 5 lb. Yorkie (not neutered) is all of the sudden starting to pee everywhere in the house. We have all hardwood floors and haven't had problems until recently (the past few months anyway). 11X14_9908_Murphy_2015a.jpg We've had Murphy since a pup and he's always gone on pee pads and never outdoors. Recently though we find him peeing on the floors, next to where we find hocked up hair balls/vomit by the two indoor cats we also have. We recently spent 12 days away from him and relatives and neighbors stopped in daily and spent time with them, changed the pads, fed, etc. We are thinking he was getting back at us for being away from him for so long??....simply marking his territory?.....IDK....just grasping for any resolution to this problem. He's even pee'd on our coffee table and end tables. He's raised his leg right in front of us before we stopped him, although he still does use the pee pads, just not 100% of the time. Does anyone have any solution to housebreak this boy? Looking for constructive advice. |

| Murphy First what a cute boy he is! Perhaps you could keep him in the container and he could pee all he wants there.......Just kidding! My boy had been perfectly trained to go outside, but after he had spent a day in a cage free day camp ( where he did tend to pee on the floor there as there were other dogs/smells), he suddenly peed once on the hardwood floor next to a sofa. Aaaaargh! First time he had ever done that. So I watched him like a hawk and kept taking him out and he has not peed on the floor since. Aaaah! So perhaps your dog his reacting to the cat vomit as it is different. Or he was spooked by the different home care situation while you were gone? So I feel it is tied to some experience he had and just kept doing it. So for a while you could tether him to you and not let him out of your sight, and also keep him away from the cat stuff until he unlearns the new habit! Good luck, and please let us know what worked for you. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | We had a Yorkie that was perfectly trained and all of a sudden she started to pee right in front of me. - Does he drink a lot of water also? - Don't want to scare you, but if it doesn't get better, take him to the vet and have a blood check. It turned out our baby was diabetic. - Once we were able to get that in balance with a small shot per day - she was back to her regular pee outside routine.
