| Aggressive Yorkie Puppy...Help! Concerned!! Hey Everyone! My little yorkie baby, Gabby, is 16 weeks old and she is a sweet, loving little bundle of energy. However, she has started becoming quite aggressive when I try to brush her or clean her ears, or dry her off after a bath. She growls and snaps and snarls and attacks my hands, and bites pretty hard. She also repeatedly snapped at the vet the other day when he was checking her teeth and trimming her nails. I literally had to restrain her. I've had 3 yorkies over the course of my life and none of them EVER behaved in this manner. They were all docile and never became aggressive under any circumstance. Any other time, she is so sweet and loving, but I'm concerned about the aggressive behavior she displays during grooming, and I'm rather nervous about future vet visits and visits to the groomers. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Is there something I can do to make her stop? I always look her in the face and say "NO" in a firm voice when she attacks, but it doesn't do any good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! |

| How old was this puppy when it was separated from its momma? This is behavior that is typically evident in puppies that have been separated from their mommas too early....this is behavior that momma curtails in her babies, and she will do it very effectively. That training usually takes place between 8 weeks and 12 weeks of age, which is another reason reputable breeders will leave the babies with momma for that length of time. |
