| The Potty Training Puppy Apartment™ (PTPA) Experience! Just thought I would share our experience (so far). We had a Bichon for many years. She was trained (before PITA) to go indoors and outdoors. It took a while - but, once she learned - it lasted the rest of her life. She is now in heaven. Its been a few years and the wife was ready for another friend - so, we decided on a Yorkie (male). Charlie is now 16 weeks old and only 2.2 lbs. Did a lot of research and decided on a Puppy Apartment. So far (all of 5 days) Charlie is having a 90% success rate on using the pads. The other 10% is just outside the Puppy Apartment. Yea, we are working on that - keeping a close watch. Our only problem is Charlie (every 3rd or 4th time) leaves his butt on his sleeping blanket and his front legs on the pad. Guess what that means? Can't get upset - Charlie has the right idea just needs to work on his execution. Anyway - just joined the forum and have learned a lot. Will update this thread as time goes by... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT ! Your new baby sounds adorable - you'll have to post a piccie sometime so we can gush over his cuteness. Thanks for sharing your experience w/ the apartment too - he sounds like he's doing so well w/ it!

| 0_yorkie.gifFigured it was time for an update. So far - all is still going well. My only problem is I think Charlie is playing me like a piano! If I miss him going potty - he will sit outside the PITA and bark. Not because he is proud - but because he wants his reward! I give him 1/4 of a square of Wellness WellBites Soft Natural Dog Treats - yea that is very very small but it works as a great reward. I swear he has it figured out - he pee's (or poops) on the pad - gets out front and barks. I give him his reward and put down a nice new pad. Well, a few minutes later - he pee's just enough to wet the pad - and sits out front for his reward! I tell him how great he is - a few minutes later - yuppa - pee's and waits for his reward. I have this feeling he figured out how to limit his pee so he can get more treats! I am not complaining - just wanted to share how smart these guys are. Got to go - I hear Charlie barking again!
