| 16 month old not sleeping Help! My dog is now 16 months old and he is continuing to wake up every morning around 5am, he will whine and bark in his crate until I get out of bed. Even if I take him outside to go to the bathroom and try to put him back into his crate he continues to carry on. He willingly goes into his crate at night and when I leave for work in the morning, so that doesn't seem to be the issue. He is however VERY needy, jealous and does not do well when I leave him with others (even to go to the bathroom) it makes him very anxious. I try to take him to public places very often (as I live in Austin and most all places are dog friendly) to bring him around as many people as I can; I also take him to daycare 2x/week. I am doing everything I can to try to ensure he is well rounded but I am really struggling with his sleeping patterns and I need some sleep! Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated! |

| Clearly the lil guy is asking for some cuddle time in the morning. Can't you take him back to bed with you for a little bit to cuddle, after his morning potty, until you have to get up and get ready for work?

| My pups used to wake me up early in the morning, so now I put a blanket over the crate, not the front, just the sides. It makes the crate dark inside and they don't realize it is morning. |

Ear plugs? If you take him out every time he whines then you have taught him to whine to be let out - so, clearly, you have a very smart dog who has trained you well! Try ignoring him when he whines. | |
