| pup growls and barks when pulled away from dogs I used to think Lexi hated other dogs when I first got her because she would go crazy barking and growling at the neighbor's dogs, but after going to obedience class I realized she just wants to play with them. She now does not go crazy when the neighbor dogs are outside, but she still does it when I pull her away from another dog on the leash or pick her up around other dogs. She sounds like he wants to attack and kill. For example, just today I had her outside to go potty and the neighbor was taking their Bichon out at the same time. Lexi just stood there and watched him, and he came into our yard, but Lexi still stayed there showing great self control. When he got close to Lexi, she started to go towards him so I picked her up because he is old and had a hurt leg so I didn't want Lexi trying to jump on him to try and play. As soon as I picked her up she did her crazy growl thing. I know she is just mad that I'm holding her back from the dog, and I know I shouldn't care what others think, but I don't want people to think she is a mean, aggressive dog. Does anyone have any advise for this? I can't just let her go up to any dog and play, but I don't want her to go crazy when I don't let her. |

| Luckily my neighbors know what a sweet, good puppy she is and knows why she is doing it. When it happens at the pet store I feel like people are looking at me thinking, what is wrong with your dog? Maybe I need to stop picking her up and letting her go up to other dogs, unless there is reason to be concerned of course. I just worry about her around bigger dogs that I don't know. |
