| Neutering We have a 1 1/2 yr old male and he marks EVERYTHING inside and out. I have searched thru your threads for an answer to my question but the answers seem to hit all around it but don't answer my question directly. What I want to know is will neutering him stop the marking? We know how to house train a dog. We have had dogs for 50 years and the norm for having them house trained is about 2-3 weeks MAX. Respectfully, we are not looking for tips on house training I just want to know if neutering will stop the marking. He never goes poopy in the house so he knows where that is supposed to be done. Most of our dogs have been show/hunting dogs so we don't have any experience with neutering we had 2 females that we had spayed at 1 yr old because we did not plan on breeding them and did not want to deal with them going into heat. We had 2 males that we rescued that had all ready been neutered but again house training was not an issue. They would explode before they would go in the house. This Yorkie is a whole new experience for us. Bottom line will neutering stop marking? |

| Buster was neutered when he was young and only marks outside. Have you cleaned the area's inside that have been previously marked with an enzyme spray? It sounds like your dog is a marker and I think they will continue to mark even after being neutered. I hope people will more experience will be able to help you out with advice.

| I think you are right about him continuing to mark, I think he will also. I am not convinced about neutering. Hopefully some more experienced person will join the discussion. |

| I have had 12 different breeds of dogs, sometimes 2 or 3 of each, and I have NEVER had this peeing in the house problem before! I am so tired and upset fighting this that I can't put it into words, none that you would allow me to post here anyway. I'm sorry, but The belly band idea seems REDICULOUS to me, I don't see how that will correct anything.I supposed that is because I do not have any experience with these little rodents running around peeing on everything.I'm getting ready to tie his little scpuhtz in a knot!! Sounds like we have a 50/50 chance of neutering fixing the problem, great!! another $130 out the window. Yes our vet only charges $130 to neuter a dog 20 lbs or less.He is lucky I don't do it myself the way I feel right now!! |

| Yorkies are notoriously difficult to hime train. I don't think you will receive the answer that you are currently looking for....that neutering your boy will somehow magically and immediately stop the marking. My respost to you is this, if you are not willing to start with several step in trying to in the very least reduce the marking issue then you need to consider rehoming him. 1. Clean all areas tgat he has marked with an enzymatic cleaner to eliminate his marked territory. 2. Neuter him ASAP 3. Belly bands until fully retrained 4. Limiting his freedom indoors until fully outdoor trained. If you are not committed to all of the above 100% truthfully your issues will continue. I quickly looked back on your previous posts and back in January you posted about double teeth. If you would have neutered at that time his teeth issues would have been addressed as well. My suggestion is a vet visit to schedule a dental along with a neuter appointment is well over due. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...any-teeth.html

| How does marking have anything to do with how many teeth he has??? By the way those extra canines have since shed all by their selves so I am glad that I didn't waste the money AND endanger my dog by having him anesthetized for nothing. I know the methods used to house train a dog, they don't work on my dog. I merely wanted to know if neutering would help, it appears that you believe it would so for that I thank you. |
