| New Black Morkie 8-week old Pup. First time dog owner! HELP! Hi everyone! I am picking up Onyx, a solid black Morkie pup with white paws and white chest, this Saturday when he is approximately 8-weeks old. I have been endlessly researching everything and anything to educate myself since this will be my first dog. I plan to crate and puppy pad train him. I read from multiple sites/sources to crate him in my room the first week or two he is not too alone or scared. Any other advice for his first night home? I also plan to exercise pen him when I am at work (which is only PT, 2 days a week). Any advice on dental care (tooth brush?), grooming (how many times to bathe him), what to do with his ears when I bathe him, and honestly ANYTHING would be appreciated. I've been reading up a lot on different posts on YT and any experienced owners with good sound advice would greatly be appreciated! Thank you! Elina and Onyx P.S. Onyx does the CUTEST thing of sticking his tongue out when I pet the top of his head as he slowly rolls back. I cannot wait to pick him up this Saturday. |

| Is there anyway the breeder could keep him with his mom until 12 weeks? Mom dogs are still teaching the pups until 12 weeks. There is also a high risky of hypoglycemia.

| I picked up Gizmo when he was 8 weeks old and I was able to stay with him for 2 weeks. Will you be able to stay home with him for a while? |

| Put a treat in his crate at night when he goes in and ask the breeder for a toy with his mommy's scent on it. That should help with the crying. You'll have to set your alarm to wake up every 3hours to put him on the potty pad. Pups that age cannot hold it through the night. |

| Thank you! And everyone else! I love all the advice! I re-read everything! I picked up Onyx this past Saturday and the first night of crate training was pretty brutal. The 2nd night was worst. I bought a small analog clock today to wrap in a sock to calm him down (because the warm ice-pack bag to mimic his mom's belly did NOT work) and he now comfortably goes on his own to nap during the day. So HOPEFULLY tonight will be better than last night...I got absolutely no sleep! I cannot get anything with Onyx's mom's scent because she is in NY...and I am in Northern Virginia/D.C. Any suggestions for crate training? He definitely is not scared of the crate. I feed him in the crate and placed his blanket and chew toys. I lured him in with treats and now he goes in and stays when I placed him in there for naps. Other than that, he is awesome. He hates his collar and definitely hates his leash. But even without a leash on, he stays RIGHT by my feet for our daily walks. Is this normal? I need him to get used to a leash soon though... Thank you ALL so very much! Really helped me out as a first time puppy/dog owner! |

| Yorkies, Maltese, and Morkies have delicate tracheas, so it's best to use a harness. Snuggle Puppies are also good for puppies to help them adjust without their mom and litter mates. It sounds like you are doing great, though. I wish you overwhelming joy and love with Onyx. Amazon.com: Snuggle Pet Products: Pet Supplies
