| Aggressive Yorkie! 😱 Hello everyone! It's nice to meet you all. I was hoping to find some help for my family. My mother bought a Yorkie two years ago, named Lola. I would take care of her three-four days out of the week and she was well behaved for the most part (trying to teach a pad-trained dog to wee outside was really my only issue, but we were working on it). Lola slept on the floor in a little doggy bed and my cats would sleep on the bed until my mother would come home and then she would take the dog into her room. Things went well until my mother's illness became worse and she began to stay home longer and then eventually full-time. Lola has become very aggressive towards my step-father, she'll be friendly and loving on him one second and going after him the next. She goes after the cats when I'm not around or they run. She fought a dog my mother adopted so much that my mother had to give her up. They were putting holes in each other. Now, against my judgement my mother brought a six week old chihuahua puppy into the home. As I didn't trust Lola or my mother (she's on medication that can make her off-balance, conk out for 12+ hours, and forget easily) I said I would take care of the puppy. Eventually mum wanted to see if they would play together so I supervised them in a neutral environment (as Lola can get possessive of the bed). They played well, but I still didn't trust Lola enough to leave them unattended. Today my mother stepped on the puppy (he's fine, thankfully) and when the puppy yelped Lola attacked it. She's also gone after animals that have cried or yelled in that past. She's gone after strangers and after family/friends too. I'm very concerned because my mother was wanting to try and let them play together only minutes after the attack. The puppy is only 2lbs to Lola's 15 and I'm frightened that the next time she'll snap and really hurt him. Is there anything that can be done in this situation? Or should I just keep them separated? (Unfortunately Lola has the run of the whole house so that would mean confining the puppy in my room with the cats because my mother feels it is unfair to Lola to be stuck in her room all day) thank you for any replies or reads you folks can give. | I should add that Lola is female, desexed, up-to-date on shots, and her vet just said that the behavior wasn't uncommon to Yorkies. She also said for my mother just to let Lola and our previous dog "fight it out" which sounded all kinds of wrong to me. Thankfully my mother saw their fighting was getting progressively more violent and found a new home for the other dog. |

| Your just going to have to keep them separated she needs to be the only dog in the household and will always need to be and its unfortunate your Mother wasnt adult enough to leave her the only dog
