| My Yorkie growls at my family members Hello, I got a 3 month old Yorkshire Terrier about 10 days ago. Since day 2, she has growled at my family members, especially my Dad whenever they come up the stairs or into my room. I've tried shaking a noisy object to stop her as well as saying a firm no. I don't know what else to do so she'll stop. Any ideas of why she's doing this and what can solve the barking? I'd appreciate it a lot! |

| Does your yorkie stop when they see that it is a good/safe person that you approve of in your space? My girl gets yappy when someone comes over but stops when the visitor greets her. She growls if anyone into family gets up in the night and may even bark until they announce themselves and she knows it is them and not a stranger. She is not super barky but those are definitely her barky moments. Welcome to yt btw

| Maybe she is scared of everything being new and different and needs more time to adjust. When I was given my male at 1 1/2 yrs he growled at my Hubby for the first couple weeks. I didn't know if it was going to work out with him or not? I really think he was doing it out of fear. They are now best Bud's. I'm sure someone else will give you answers but that was my experience. |

| This definitely happened with a foster pup I was watching. She use to growl and bark at my roomies, and it became less and less. I only had her 10 days, so I didn't break her from the habit 100%. I did say "quiet" and immediately offered her praise and cuddles, or a treat for being quiet for half a second. I didn't give her much time to keep barking as I was already rubbing her head.

| Thank you all for your comments! Now I feel much more relaxed. We will definitely praise her when she doesn't bark, also; my other family members are taking turns feeding her, we will all work hard to get her to enjoy being with all of us. Thank you all once again!! |

| I believe that is key. We all three, 2 DDs and I, made sure to do some of all the puppy care every day. Feeding, training, playing, outside for potty, ringing the bells, etc. Jax is well bonded with all of us. |
