| From potty pads to outdoors Has anyone started out training their puppy on potty pads indoors and successfully transitioned them to going to the bathroom outdoors only? If so, how did you do go about doing this? I know some people have said to slowly move the pad toward the door, but the door we use to exit to our yard is through a small room that he will not have access to. |

| Mine use Potty Pads during inclement weather, but on nice days they love to go outside. I just tried to catch the first pee in the morning and take them outside or walk them, and praised like a maniac with a treat when they go. I didn't move the potty pad, bc that would be a mess at the door, lol.

| In the process of doing this now. Gracie's feet were on solid earth for the first time yesterday. This morning she had a better reaction but did not go potty. We went out for a bit and I knew she surely had to go potty when we got home so I took her right outside and she did go ... reluctantly. She is 9 weeks old today. I'm not pushing too hard because she is so young and not yet really in control of her bowels/bladder. And it's so cold outside. She has done so well with everything else this past week I think things will go smoothly over time. Ever since the first night we brought her home she has whined from her kennel to let me know if she needed to go potty. |

| Same here with Logan. He is almost 11 weeks old but we got him at 8 weeks. He's had good days going outside and good days only going on the pads but still has accidents. We live in Philadelphia so it's been really cold here. Too cold for him really. I just don't want to confuse him by pad training. I bought nature's miracle advanced spray for the carpet. It smells so good. And also a "pet odor exterminater" brand candle that is amazing too. My main problem with him is that he goes in his crate if he wakes up before me in the morning. I wake up at 630am and he still gets up before me! I'm starting to believe the breeder we got him from kept him pent up a lot because he has no problem just going in his crate. Dirty dog syndrome as my friend told me. Pet store pups usually do the same. Although I love him and I'm glad that he has a good home with us, I am upset that he may have come from a breeder that caged him so often. But I could be wrong. I just hope in the next few weeks I can get him closer to fully house broken

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I trained my Yorkies on the pee pads. Now they go outside using a doggy door. But if I lay a rug or a a towel down for them to sleep on, once in awhile they pee on it. Now do they think it is a pee pad? I just wash stuff a lot. I cannot buy a fancy dog bed because they will pee on it. Bummer. I cannot figure out why they pee on certain things. |
