| Humping Oscar is only 3 months old but he is has started humping his toys. Does anyone know why or how to stop this inappropriate behavior. Thank you so much, Diane and Oscar |

| It's a sign of dominance...he's saying that the toy is his. You can stop him by saying no & taking away the toy.

| My girl lilah humps her toys too, because I know it is a dominance establishment issue and it only happens with her toys, the act itself des not bother me. However, she does get a little excessive sometimes so I will take her toy away (like the girl is at the foot of my bed and c'mon I'm trying to sleep here lilah! Give me a break!) I think when she does it a lot she is lacking in excercise and social interaction...just a thought but I'm pretty sure if she played hard and was worn out she would not have the desire or energy to hump that monkey all night!

| My Ziva did this as a puppy. She was the ringleader of her litter and jumped on her brother in play.As she got older we noticed she did it in the evenings as things were winding down. Then less as she got more regular exercise and longer walks. She stopped almost immediately when we bought a puppy home when she was two. She started licking the leather couch as her calming habit at that time- and continues licking almost every evening. |

| When we got Teddy, he would hump a lot, especially during play time with Toki or if Toki was stationary for too long. We used a little spritz from a squirt bottle to break his attention or we would just clap or do something to distract him and redirect him. He stopped this humping behavior pretty quickly...maybe only a couple days later we hardly saw it. We haven't seen any recurrence since we got him last May thankfully...it's definitely awkward and can make other people uncomfortable |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Alfie humps large stuffed toys and blankets, we will let him occasionally but if we don't take his friend away he actually chumps until he is sore. Last week I wore a fleecy dressing gown I got for Christmas for the first time and I was trailing Alfie round the house on the end of it cos he kept jumping up and hanging on to it. I have put it away again now.
