Barking Hi everyone! I live in an apartment and my little guy barks at EVERYTHING ... people walking by the door or any little thing he hears. Its really starting to get out of control. He is 18 weeks I hope he will start to get used to everything but Im not sure when that will be.. Any ideas on how to make him a little more quiet??

My Yorjies bark at anything that they see pass in front of our house. They both sit on the back of a chair in the family room and look out of the front door. Sometimes, depending on how long we are away from the house we put them in their room. When we do put them in their room, we keep the radio on (not loud, not to disturb anyone else) they seem to like the sound and do not bark at the outside noises. Maybe try playing some soothing music for them to distract their attention from the outside noises.

Since we have been in our RV in a busy camground all winter, Higgins has gotten a LOT better about barking. He basicially doesn't bark at any of the "regulars" or their dogs that walk by. On weekends, he tends to bark more at "stranger dogs", but has finally developed some discrimination and doesn't tend to bark at the BIG dogs much. He is VERY, overly friendly with everyone and their dogs, which is nice. However, if any dog acts the least bit agressive with him WHILE HE IS ON THE LEASH, he will go into "vicious attack mode" which is not smart for a 6 pound dog! When is is off leash, he is much more careful.......LOL......

| Meeko and Molly tend to bark at other dogs. They are now 8 and 6 months respectively. They did bark at everything including flies that would pass by . When we leave the house we leave the tv on to the Animal Planet and they love it. As they grow they tend to bark less. Hopes this helps.

Toby barks when he plays, and when i leave he CRIES A LOT and paces..... the only other time he barks is when he thinks he is "protecting me".... we are trying to work on this becuase i know he loves his mommy but the agressiveness is not good. If anyone approaches me that he doesnt know (and once even my fiance) he will do his protective barking, especially if he is sitting in my lap..... hasnt done this for a while so maybe my efforts are working

Has anyone heard of Pet Calm? I got it at Petco its 100% Natural I just put it in his water or food and its supposed to make him calm. Use it for when he gets a hair cut or car ride... anything that could cause him to be stressed or just him acting up. I've used it for about 4 days it might take a little more time so we'll see.

I'm teaching a yorkie to stop barking right now. He barks at every sound too. I'm trying a different method using the clicker. Basically, I acknowledge his barking, asking him to "Quiet" and rewarding for correct behavior. I have 3 more days before I have to return him to his owner. I think he is doing better. I'll let you know how it works out for him.
