| Training a 5 year old Yorkshire to go on pad Hello, I am considering to adopt a 5 year old female yorkie that is used to go potty outside. I would like to potty train her on a pad. Is this something that can be done? I've had one Yorkie before that was trained as a baby to go on pads and had no problems but since this dog is used to going outside for a few years now, can it be done? |

| I adopted my little girl, Katie, when she was three years old. She had two litters of puppies before she was retired. Katie came from a hobby show breeder who is also a professional dog trainer. She was used to going potty outside, and she was fully trained when she came to live with us. Katie still prefers to go potty outside, but I have a washable pee pad down in case I am gone too long and she needs to go potty. Surprisingly, I didn't need to train her to use the washable pad. I think she knew to use it because she had trained her puppies to go potty on a pad. Katie is a dream come true, such a special little girl. She was used to a lot of love before she came to us, yet still she bonded so quickly to us, and she is such a love! I hope things work out for you with this little girl.

| It's a funny coincidence, you are saying that she had babies before because the one I want to adopt is a retired breeder dog too.. Does it make a difference in their behavior the fact that they had babies before? |

| Katie was raised as part of the family and was given so much love before we adopted her. She was socialized early and also was shown to her championship. Katie was also used to lots of trips to the park to train. I think all of that shaped her personality. I really don't know if having puppies affected her, but she is such an amazing little girl with such a wonderful temperament. All of my past little ones were with me from the time they were puppies, so I am so thrilled that Katie bonded with us so quickly. Katie absolutely loves to play and is a little lovebug. We completely adore her, and I don't think she could be more perfect.
