| She's Tethered!! Hi Everyone! I just thought I would let everyone know that I do not know everything. As if you didn't already know. LOL As of today Princess Sophie is tethered. We have given up trying to keep track of her in the den. Just too many things to hide under and behind. LOL She is one sneaky Princess! Of course, she doesn't like it and is struggling against it every so often. I actually think the tether is for the DH and I. It actually makes us pay more attention to her. We thought she was getting all of our attention but obviously not. I believe the experts (those of you who have suggested this to others) are correct in this treatment. I will be posting as time goes by to let y'all know how things are going but right now DH and I are in the Dog House!!

| Hang in there Diane. I don't want to discourage you but it took Macy almost a year before I trusted her out of my sight. Molly has taken to using her potty pad like a champ so each dog is different. I know Princess Sophie has it in her so keep up the good work and don't get discouraged.

| I'll be rooting for you Diane. I think training Wallee was one of the toughest for me as well. We had a little confusion with seasons changing and him going both outside and then coming in and peeing on my carpet. Luckily, he picked a favourite spot every time to pee on the carpet no matter how often he went outside so I ended up putting his pad there. It wasnt my favourite place to have it as it was in the living room. I tried moving it to the door and putting something over that spot during Christmas but the sneaky brat started going beside the dining room table. So, after numerous steam cleaning adventures, I decided to put 2 pads over that area and if he is running and playing, he will go there. I still put him outside when he wakes from sleeping and when we come in from being out. (Weirdly enough we have let him stay in the living room when we are out but he doesn't go pee till we get home) He will be 1 on the 27th and "in our home" I feel we wre now safe with him going outside or if we are not watching, he will just use the pads. Hopefully when summer comes, we will try more outside and less pads....babysteps. |

Tethering is a great way to keep your little princess out of trouble and safe. It's to easy to get distracted and loose track of them when they are this small. Believe me it works and you'll feel better knowing that she is safe because you know exactly where she is at all times. It takes up to a year before they can be left alone and be trusted not to chew, poo and pee what and where they shouldn't .

| CLAP CLAP, I am so glad you are trying tethering. It is one of our most successful training techniques. Some (clients) people don't like it because they want us to teach the pup in one visit, to be house broken. Tethering puts the responsibility where it belongs on the teacher ! Puppies are not accountable until the are completely trained. Repetition is key to training a puppy. Please let us know how it goes. Hugs

| I keep Lacey tethered when she's out of her crate. I also spend the greater part of my evening unwrapping the leash from around the chair legs, coffee table and anything else she can get wrapped around. It has helped tremendously with potty training though. I have two cats who have decided they like the bedroom better since Lacey has appeared on the scene. Lacey knows where they are but the leash stops right at the bedroom door. Saturday night she managed to bite the hook on the leash just right and got unleashed. I was in the kitchen. When I came back to the living room, she had gone into the bedroom where the cats are and one by one, removed their toys and added them to her pile in the living room. The cats just sat on the bed and watched. |

| That's hysterical!! Princess Sophie just wants to chase Hansel around the house. She has also learned to climb stairs but she doesn't know how to get down. LOL We have a pretty tall staircase to the 2nd floor so if she get up there unaided, she whines till we can bring her down. LOL What things they get into!!! This is turning out to be a really fun adventure with these pups!!

| I tethered both of mine to my belt loop the second they walked in the door. My boy stayed at my hip for months. It was tough. My girl was a lot easier. I actually miss it sometimes. I kinda think that it helped us bond a little. Then again, they both still follow me EVERYWHERE. Maybe that's why they do that? I just put that together as I was writing this. Hmmm...?? But I think that Yorkies are like Velcro anyway, right? Good luck You guys will do great!
