Yorkie Yakker | Slight aggression? Hello! My 9 month old baby Stella has never ever been aggressive. She loves people... Cats... dogs.. you name it. But a problem seems to be surfacing a little. I don't have any cats but my mother has 4 in the house and 2 outside and we are at her house a good 2 times a week. Stella loves to romp and play with the kitties and there is never a problem. In fact, based on how she climbs all over furniture and things i think she believes she is a cat. She has been around them since she was 8 weeks old. But in the past week or two when the screen door is open to the outside and there is a kitty standing outside and we are about to take stella out she charges the door at the cat and barks like a mad dog for a few seconds.... But as soon as we are outside she loves the cat and would never hurt it. And when we get back inside never an aggressive moment with any of the indoor kitties. Is there some way i can get her to stop dong this? I am unsure why it has started. Maybe this is a stupid theory but the indoor cats sometimes will hiss and slap at the outdoor cats when they are on the other side of the door. Could that have anything to do with it? lol |

| Maybe she is just "helpling" out the cats in shooing away the outside cats. Smart girl.

| Its most likely because the cats are outside so she doent consider them family members. I have 5 cats and mine are never aggressive with them whether they are inside or outside but if a stray cat is at the door they will bark and chase it they know who belongs and who doesnt. I dont know what you could do besides letting those cats in the house sometimes so your yorkie sees they belong there

| My positive based trainer has a theory that says that do not let dogs look out the window because it is like teasing them and they do get frustrated. I used to let Pao look out the window, watching squirrels, people passed by and overtime, he did get more aggressive but I couldn't pinpoint what caused the change. So now, all windows closed with curtain including the sliding glass door facing the backyard. No more squirrels and bunny watching.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Those cats are not part of the pride (he thinks he is a cat). So he is protecting his home and his family members. Let the cats in but supervise the interaction. He will classify them as new. So there might be a few swats |

Yorkie Yakker | Thanks! That is a good idea I will bring the two outdoor girls in with supervision and see how it goes Stella loves the outdoor kitties when she is outside she just doesn't seem to when they are at the door so i will give it a try I am getting another yorkie puppy in a few weeks so she might be really confused. lol. Or she might think the new baby is another cat. lol. She really gets along well with any animals she has ever been introduced to |
