| New puppy hi, I just brought home my first ever Yorkie pup 2 days ago!! He was born August 20th 2012 and will be no more than 5 or 6 pounds full grown.. I work noon to 6 Mon-Fri at a daycare but I just graduated May 2012 from HS so I'm still living at home saving my money, so my mom (who is a stay at home mom) watches my puppy while I'm working. My parents have a shipoo dog and so far he is great with my pup and actually very non interested in him, but my folks are still keeping a close eye at all times. My parents dog is around 12 lbs and they potty trained him just crating at night and keeping him in a sectioned off area of the kitchen during the day and crating if they had to go to the store etc. Of course since this pup is new we are holding him all the time His first night I put him in his kennel next to my bed and he cried about one hour and slept about 6 hours and then I got up, took him outside and he did both!! Now, last night was a total disaster, I made sure he was played with, fed, pooed and peed and put him to bed... he cried all night, I took him outside after several hours, he went potty and I put him back in and he cried non stop the rest of the night, it broke my heart but I didn't take him out or talk to him, but I also got zero sleep and am exhausted! So, I need help please... suggestions on what I can do differently? Should he go in the kennel during the day time more so he isn't so terrified of it? He seems like he just hates it but I don't want him in bed with me, he is way too small and I'm not comfortable with it. I want to train him correct from the start. I could really use advise and ideas. I am in love with him already and just want to make this as best as I can for him as he gets adjusted to life away from his mates and mommy. thank you so much |

| I would say your main problem is that your puppy is very young. A puppy that age would normally be sleeping with it's litter mates and mom. He has no one to snuggle with or to keep him warm. He is a baby. He doesn't understand day or night. He does not know why you are there one minute and not the next. I don't have much advice for you. Make sure you have something warm and soft for him to snuggle down in. It could take a while for him to get used to sleeping by himself. It's pretty common for a puppy that age to cry at night. Some people let their puppies sleep with them but if you are a very sound sleeper that is probably not a good idea. |

| Good luck with your new puppy! I have heard that a Snuggle Pet helps a lot to ease the anxiety of a young puppy. Snuggle Puppies - Official Home of Snuggle Pet Products Snuggle Pet Products SnugglePuppie Dog Toy | PetFoodDirect
